Apparently because their figures doesn't fit the safety standards of Europe and North America. To enter these markets, they needed to make a radical change in their design and manufacturing and they're not interested in it once their home market is good enough to their business. Very Happy

Thanks for the reply Roger. I wonder why exactly their models are so different from things like airplane models or small train models? They seem to be made from similar things (though I am completely ignorant in this topic of course) and small parts break all the time. I really wish they could spread out their product, they really are great models but hard to find.

The Aquatales are more on the "Resin model" side. I don't know if the market is big enough in Europa for this kind of stuff.

For the Gashapon ones, chocoeggs or bottle caps, it is the same problem maybe. I would buy Kinders if they have such beauties inside  Wink

Nevertheless, Kitan club and Kaiyodo seem to make softer models since 2013 so maybe one day those phenomenal brands will joined Toyota and Sony in our shops. It would be then a hard time for Western companies  What a Face

There are three companion sets to the two Aquatales anniversary sets shown.

Also, I finally have a new source in Asia so I am once again selling new Kaiyodo figures from the US.  Please see my ad in the marketplace section.

Thanks.

FYI, I'll be doing mostly pre-orders, meaning I'll be buying what people ask me to get for them so I know I can sell it. These in particular are expensive, as they are resin, not plastic, so if I can get them at all, it will definitely be upon request only.

Thanks.

I think not more as 4 are interesting for me, i need the specie names. I cant really see on the pic. I think the puffer fish and the yellow fish in the centre of your pic. What specie is the gray shark- a great white- if yes not interesting. And the black fish in the front left corner?

Hi Andreas.

I don't have the ID's on any of these. This photo is the only info I have.

If I get any for myself, it will be very few, and none from the first two series. Some are very beautifully done (The swimming walrus is interesting.), but subjects are redundant, as is so often the case with Kaiyodo, and I don't understand why the company would choose to put marine/aquatic animals on black bases.

They are very similar, but to get tge safety standard certifications, they would need to shell out the money. It's apparently quite expensive, and further, many of their figures possess very realistic features (like the dorsal din on the killer whale, for instance) that would be deemed hazardous to children & therefore would have to be modified for release in Europe & the US. Tgis compromises the realism - something Kaiyodo prides itself on. Many figures by Schleich, Safari, Papo, Mojo, and CollectA have been less than 100% accurate to accommodate safety standards (curved horns on Oryx figures, soft plastic in antlers, horns, etc). Plus, there's issues like phlathates in the plastic and BPA, etc, which are prohibited in toys sold in the US & Europe, but I dont know that those prohibitions exist for toys sold in Japan, so the Japanese companies would have to either change the materials they use or pay to have their products certified phlathates free.

Thank you for the reply. That makes sense also, but I still wish that maybe there can be a product that would be capable of being marketed in the US. I love their figures but wouldn't want the quality to be compromised.  drunken

Those kind of figures are produced in one shot. So they are not too expensive at the issue but after a few months the prices usually increase.

You won't find US sellers except as resellers, since they are only sold in Japan.

And upon further review--it appears that the Aquatales figures are all part of the polystone figures line, meaning bigger sizes, higher prices, but no pieces!

Thanks!  Smile I've always liked the Japanese brands sea lfe but was turned away because I thought they were hard to assemble and they were pricey because I didn't know of anyone in the USA that sold them.

You won't find US sellers except as resellers, since they are only sold in Japan.

And upon further review--it appears that the Aquatales figures are all part of the polystone figures line, meaning bigger sizes, higher prices, but no pieces!

I never said I'd actually find a store (be it bricks and mortar or internet) in the US that sold it, just stating that they were pricey as I knew they weren't available in the US.  Rolling Eyes

I'm in the US and am selling (only) newly released Kaiyodo figures. I can pre-order for anyone who asks. I try to keep my prices lower than anyone selling on eBay.

I have some listed now and would sell directly for still less than my eBay prices.

Very nice figures, lets see if I can find them around here ;-) Btw. I'm also accepting search requests, also for older figures, they display them here in a lot of stores (but sadly very expensive sometimes, but should still be much cheaper than on ebay)

It looks like they're releasing caterpillars:

Next set depicts microscopic and similarly small animals---daphnia, brine shrimp, etc.
