I agree with Christophe, the face is too squared off at the end, it should be sloping slightly curved.  The eye is too much at an angle, should be more horizontal with the characteristic gentle look. Hooves should be tapered more and not so flat.  Legs should be longer too to match the real animals proportions.

I believe the silhouette and correct shape are very important to making a species look the way it is suppose too.  This is the same as drawing a person but with too square a jaw or big a nose it wont look like them anymore.

Beautiful, although I agree about the face, it's not quite there.

Can you show some pictures of a prototype if it is possible?

Wow, it's incredible! After you found all issues and you make all corrections this model started to look really amazing

Thanks elephas maximus! That's exactly what i as missing when i first looked at the picture! Such mistakes make the difference between a whatever donkey and the wild ass,....

I agree the model is good but it looks very much better with the adjustments to it.I will be getting this model regardless!!Roger mentioned the about this not being a Somali Wild Ass but this is a Somali Wild Ass!The other is the Nubian but this sub species doesn't have the leg stripes and has a shoulder cross stripe.

    Even if I agree with Maximus, my first post was the beggining of a Macaque bad joke  A few years ago I customized a Schleich tapir into a Baird's tapir and CollectA made an excellent one in 2013... This year I customized a AAA zebra into a Somali wild ass and look what CollectA is planing for 2014... Copycating      

I will probably buy this one because this is the best Somali Wild ass in the market, It is the only one.  Maximus framed the failures of this model. I'm afraid it is too late too make some changes.

I do agree that with the adjustments it would be perfect but I love it anyway and it's on my personal top list especially if I think about the Schleich -every- year -repeating -boring- species

So i am curios what you plan to custom next year    

I've repainted the Schleich Tapir into a Mountain Tapir...Maybe someone should remodel one of the Indian Rhions into a Sumatran, and then we'll see what is happening..

About the suggested changes, - they would surely make it an outstanding model  

Still, the nose-line does vary a lot !
I think we can always find pictures of one animal that does not look like one specific model.
Take a look at some photoes

Had they made the model like the ( BEAUTYFUL) suggested one, we could have criticized that as well

Hi Susanne,  I understand where you are coming from but I just made those suggestions to better represent a standard specimen.  In general from a profile view it seems the characteristic face is some what sloping and defines the face of this species.  From a slightly 3/4 angle it will look a bit different with a bit of the squared off look but that is just the nostril showing from the other side due to the angle.

As with any species there are variations but it is always great when you see a model and it right away has those species specific characteristics.  Regardless I know this model will make a lot of collectors happy and it is great collectA is covering a diverse set of species.
