Walkaround: Yujin Aquarium Fish in Colour series 1 - common goldfish (by Konimini)

Here's the most "basic" of the goldfish in the Aquarium Fish In Colour/Aquarium Golden Fish series by Yujin and Takara Tomy A.R.T.S - the common goldfish (Carassius auratus auratus), wakin. Pictured is the Series 1 orange colourway of the model. Like all of the fish in the series, these were sculpted by a chap going by the moniker KOW.

The model is of the domesticated version of the common carp (Carassius auratus) which, due to a mutation, is of a goldeny orange colour instead of the usual carp grey. The model is extremely well made, lifelike and highly detailed, with meticulously sculpted scales, translucent fins and gradually intensifying metallic overtones to its multihued paintwork. The figure is some 6cm long and comprises of a transparent support rod, a "stony" base (the dull and oddly bluish paintwork of which is in my opinion the figurine's only weakness), a slightly translucent aquatic plant, and the fish itself.

Thanks for the comments! More is coming - I'll compose a little tour of each of the Yujin goldfish molds I've got, with the different colourways included. I'll just need to find a few uninterrupted hours to get them up.

Thank you! I have 2 (so far, more on the way with hopefully many more to follow), but they were gifts and didn't come with catalogues. The realism on these guys is amazing, hats off to KOW and their paint designer.

Yujin fish sets are universally excellent. Have not got the Goldfish set but do have the 2 marine and 2 freshwater sets
