New for Mojo Fun 2014: Lion male (2nd version)

I love his patrolling stance!

Wonderfull figure !! Much better than previous one !!. Like zebra , lioness. I want it !!  This year I think Mojo has taken a big step forward

I don't think they get that much into planning. I would says the main reason for them killing cubs is that the females won't breed with any lion while feeding the cubs. When they lose the cubs, hormones kick-in and they get breeding seasons again soon... So, lions just do what the basic instinct for breeding tells them to do...

According with him, these pictures don't give it justice.

Very nice... Although, I will miss one detail from the old lion - his visible ribs, that was an excellent touch

That's just awful, nature can be so cruel sometimes

Cruel, that's just human's point of view. To every other living beeing, it's just natural behaving and we must look it that way...

You're right, cruel is the wrong word, I know what they do is only natural, but I can't help feeling sorry for the cubs! Of course, I still accept what nature does even if sometimes it seems inexplicable.

Many species do this in fact, I think the reason they do it is basically they are eliminating a future threat of competition (for food or the gene pool etc.). Of course they may not be thinking this in their head, but something inside them, instinct tells them too. Gorillas do this, grizzlies do this, lions do this, and many other species that aren't top predators including North American mustangs (if given the chance), and of course many many other species.

yes well most lions probaly think its normal to kill their probable step children

About the ribs, I think he is a perfectly well fed lion, - as they say with dogs : You must be able to feel the ribs, but not see them

About killing the offspring of a competitor, I think it has got something to do with the fact that they smell wrong.
When we say they do it because they want their genes, or want the females to come in heat, but that is the effect/instinct, developed with survival of the fittest, - not the reason.  

Any human parent will know that his/her own babies smell best. Other close relatives like the smell of the baby too. Sniffing your baby's hair, - that is the best smell in the world !!!!
To a new male lion, the cubs aren't "cute, little babies", they probably mean nothing to him, they are just in the way.

Btw, - as far as I know, Grizzly males will even eat their own young if the mom isn't looking out !!!
