I saw that in my catalog, as well. I just thought he was never retired. I had just recently bought two thinking they were hard to find. It was never labeled as new for this year, though.

It was reintroduced due to high demand. Very Happy I believe it will happen again and I know many people is still missing the aardvark. So, why not? pig Very Happy

Luckily I have both, I think it is a question of time and you'll also find them. Though, the aardvark is a little large for your taste! Laughing But a figure to collect of course. Honestly, I don't expect that Mojo or CollectA release that figure in next years and other major brands almost surely won't release it too. Another source of hope is TGF Toys, they are selling the retired Safari anteater as an exclusive. With the recent arrival of Papo anteater it lost some interest, although Safari figure is better. They don't have a single aardvark in all their shop, so it could be a good idea TGF get the exclusive of the aardvark either. study

Rogerio, how big is that aardvark exactly? Can you make some comparison pics with Safari anteater, please?

I think rare and retired figures should remain rare and retired and never be released over again. This way they are collectors items. I would be very upset if the aardvark became easy to find. This is me opinion

I cannot disagree with you. Actually it is not fair to treasure a figure, to enjoy their collectability value and suddenly it is reintroduced in the current range. Though, there are always many figures discontinued, I like that this task keep more reserved to old lions, giraffes, zebras , etc. An aardvark is such unusual on market that I see its reintroduction as an interesting thing. Obviously, a new version of the aardvark would be better to all. Very Happy

Bojan, not huge but somewhat massive. Check below pictures with Safari anteater and Westie. tongue

It looks like they are re-promoting quite a few figures. Their Brahma, their anteater through TGF toys, and now the pronghorn. Yes reproducing is damaging to rarity and collector's levels, but in the case of brahma (which I missed the first time around) for me this is a little lucky.  Smile Though I will say it is a little odd to re-release old figures.

There's no doubt it's irritating to work hard to find rare figures, to experience the joy of locating and acquiring them, only to have the company re-release them and make them commonplace and cheap. However, as Roger pointed out on the thread regarding the "new" Schleich cows, these companies make no money from rare, collectors items. If there is a real demand, they're prudent to meet it. And as thrilled as I was to lay my hands, finally, on the Schleich Wisent -- and as much as I paid for it! -- if Schleich re-released the Wisent and made it available to those who haven't been able to acquire a nice, clean copy, I wouldn't begrudge either the company or the collectors who benefit. I certainly don't blame the companies for not caring at all about the status of their figures as collectors items to a (very) small group of aficionados.

I hope Safari does re-release the Aardvark! That would be great for me.
