Yesterday I received my forest buffalo figure done by Harriet, he arrived in perfect condition so I put him in his new home, he is so wonderful I can't wait until his mate arrives.  Until then here are a couple of photos of the bull for everyone to enjoy...

He looks so happily perfect there, in among all the green and brown.

I just love, too, the way he is painted in so many different lovely shades of colour, especially the rich gold/brown.

Good work!

The bull looks very well executed, the sculpting and painting suits it perfectly. It looks like it fits in perfectly with your diorama setting.

Thanks everyone, I'm glad you like the photos.

On the diorama, I chose the coloring based on the iron ore deposits typical of the soil found in the forest, I was surprised at how well it matched the colors of the bull when he went into the scene!  I guess when several people are researching the same thing, in this case Ana and Harriet studying the buffalo and me the habitat, if we follow the correct information we should end up with a figure that belongs in the scene.

As soon as the cow arrives I can finish adding the "forest" around the pair and I'll post more photos, I also have a few hidden gems in the diorama, small animals from the same area that can be seen if you look hard enough. EDIT: My misstatement, so don't look yet, I haven't put anything in there until it is ready for the permanent placement!

Numaan, or any member for that matter, you are more then welcome to visit!  If you get here there is not only my building where the dioramas are set up but my work stations where I make the trees, my woodworking shop where I turn and carve wood, as well as all of the live animals to see.  It is a lot more then just a collection of custom figures, trees, and dioramas.  Hope to see you here at some point!!!

Hi Phil

I dont know much about you. Where in the US do you live and what do you mean there are more buildings and live animals? Do you live on some sort of ranch? I have always admired your postings - your dioramas etc are fantastic. I will be sure to visit one day and see you whilst you work away on your dioramas.

what live animals do you have?

Because I'm sick right now ( for those who don't know me well I'm a two time multi-organ transplant, the first about 20 years ago the second will be 4 years on March 22) so I have had to move many of my animals to breeders or sanctuarys where they can be cared for as they should be, but as my health improves I hope to have as many back as is reasonable for me to care for.  I have now split between my home in California, Nevada, and Florida depending on permitting laws a small herd of of an endangered subspecies of European mouflon, (called Marco Polo sheep, they are smaller then the regular mouflon, have bigger horns, and do not change the color of the coats during the seasons like regular mouflon).  I have 2 pet servals, and a caracal, but I gave up the bulk of my collection many years ago as I got sick the second time.  in mammals I gave up several small antelope species, two herds of plains zebra, one of 5, the other with 3.  I gave up all of the big cats, binterongs, coati mundi and bigger animals because it was not only dangerous for me to be around many of them but I couldn't care for them.  I still keep about 50 species of birds including 3 of the 4 species of the wild Gallus (the only one I don't have in its wild form is the red jungle fowl, Gallus gallus, which everyone knows as the chicken, which I do have for eggs and meat) although right now several of the very rare birds are on breeding loan, and sometime I have animals here that are not mine on breeding loan as well.  I have vulturine guinea fowl and pure blooded Reichenow's guinea fowl, these are related but nothing at all like a domestic guinea, ocellated turkey's, and about a dozen true pheasant species from china and India just to name a few.  I have my falconers permit but because I can't hunt a bird and it is expensive I didn't renew my permits and don't have any birds of prey right now, about 100 years ago (it seems like it anyway!) I used to have a king vulture that was very tame and a great pet.

That is just an overview, I can't go over everything, for instance I've had over 3000 reptiles including venomous ones in the past, but now I don't keep a single species, same with fish, I had a business that collected marine tropical fish for 12 years and am a cirtified diver on trimix who has dove to just above 300 ft depth collecting very rare deep water fish and inverts.

My properties are all over 1.5 acres with the biggest being almost 4 acres, I have such big dioramas that I built a building to house them.  Also because I live out in the country in all of my locations I have workshops where I can fabricate or build just about anything I need on my own.  If you look back at my posts you can see pictures of some of my animals, buildings and of course, my dioramas.
