My European wildlife shelf (“Forest-Steppe”) Empty
PostSubject: My European wildlife shelf (“Forest-Steppe”)   My European wildlife shelf (“Forest-Steppe”) EmptyWed 4 Jan 2012 - 18:55

Friends, I’d like to share with you some pictures of my fifth and last shelf display - “European Forest-Steppe”. It occupies a bookshelf below my American wildlife display [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.].

Here’s the general view of the shelf:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

And now some details. The shelf is divided into two parts by a “spruce forest”. Schleich lynx is one of its inhabitants:

This how the “steppe” part of the display looks when viewing from a “spruce forest”:

Close-up of Schleich ibex on a “mountain slope”:

On the left side of Europe (:)) there is a pond with forested shore. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] lives here:

And finally, a real birdwatcher’s photo – Bullyland buzzard among branches:

This shelf is undergoing a renovation right now, so I’m going to post updates soon. :)

Kirill it looks wonderful with your re-arrangements! Seeing your photo of the bullyland buzzard has made me want one too. drunken and also I want to do something similar in my display cabinet, put in some rocks an branches for some figurines to stand on. I find my bird collection get's a bit lost and need elevating to see them better.

Thank you for appreciation, friends!
More pics will follow as I've already added an artificial bonsai pine and a couple of twigs to the shelf.
And Tim - I'm glad to see your comment again after such a while!!

So come on, Harriet! I'm sure you'll make a spectacular display with your collection!
And yes, birds could be lost indeed among terrestrial animals, although birds usually have larger scale...

Very nice way to show your animals.I like the idea of bringing nature into
your shelf with wood, branches and rocks. It's very inspiring, thanks.

I'd be very glad if I inspired other collectors to set up similar displays, cause I'm really fond of sharing experience in this area, and other's displays are inspiration to me :)

You're right, Ana. The deer in the "forest" is "Made in Chine" and I bought it 6 years ago. I like its brownish coloring on the muzzle and horns.
The second one (in the "steppe") I bought last year when it was announced to be retired. And I was surprised that all such deers in Kiev shops were "Made in Germany" and had different, more light and pale coloring! They both are good, but I prefer the Chinese variant :)
Are these deers left on sale in your country? Where were they made?
