PostSubject: Sorry, a Cinereous vulture !   Mon Dec 27, 2010 2:00 am

My last addition, a Cinereous vulture, is nice to see such a unattractive species in a German brand! Who thought children will love it? Well, we never know what do children like, but I know that a young member of this forum has a vulture in his collection! Our nice friend Mihnea!!! Am I right?
I’m thinking in the other vulture from Bullyland, but I need your help to know which species is it.?
I know ladies of this forum, this is not the cutest animal, but it has a very important role in ecosystem has all animals! And this species is present in Iberian Peninsula!
The bad remains of this year will feed this bird while we are dreaming with what good news 2011 will bring!cheers
Sorry again for the pics!

With the Safari Greater Horned Owl to compare!

Ah yes, the vulture is a very useful creature. They don't have to be eating carrion (cleaning up after the dead animals) but can also instill fear in those they circle over..though those that are turning 40 years usually don't appreciate the humor of having one circling above there desk or peering down on them from the shelf above their computer...

Something to look forward to my friend! lol!

That's a funny way to say something very real in our lifes! That's the reason why I love anteaters, they have to hunt about 30.000 insects per day to survive and vultures lives from the remainings of others!
Some have to work a lot, others are doing nothing, only surrounding waiting the opportunity!
Poor ants! confused :)

I don´t know how to say this in English, I think is a "buitre leonado", the most common vulture in Spain.

Congratulations for the amazing adition!

I was looking in the catalogue, the name of the vulture is :

German : Mönchsgeir (monk-Vulture ?)
English : Black vulture (why ? It is not black Laughing )
French : Vautour moine

Avvoltoio monaco and Buitre monje, - is that Portuguese and Spanish ?

It is a great birdie I love you

Oh, cool! I just ordered a Bullyland vulture too - it looks great! We really need more of the "less glamorous" species. As a carrion-eating species, you'd think we humans would have more sympathy with the scavengers....

Buitre monje is in Spanish, it´s the same as Buitre negro (black vulture), but I think is not the black vulture, I think it´s the Buitre Leonado, Griffon Vulture in English (Gyps fulvus). Could it be this kind of vulture?

Thanks Harriete, Anna and...,

@Ken: Thank you! I agree, I'm thinking in other Bullyland birds and show in this topic

@ Susanne: It will be very easy to scare the ladies of this forum... a pic of myself that's enough! Laughing
By the way, in Portuguese it has a lot of names, most known, abutre-preto.

@Philip: És benfiquista? confused

@Sylvia:Both are present in the fauna of our countries. Some confuse, vultures, eagles and many birds! We need the help of Crow!!!
This one in Spanish is called buitre negro, the other (leonado) is griffon vulture, but are other vultures with this name.
But it's not easy, I'll send some pics to the Portuguese Birds Society and ask them!

@Sumo: Thanks! Someone agreeing with me!

@Christophe: thanks for your help and fantastic picture, this one will be in my hands soon

I've been searching for a vulture for my collection for awhile now. After seeing this, I immediately found a place that had them and ordered it. It will be my first (but not last) Bullyland figure.

I'm glad to help you find a vulture, is easier a vulture find us! Laughing
Is not easy to find many great Bullyland figures but some are hard to resist! It's a strange brand!
I'd liked a lot to know what figures are you thinking? The other vulture? The golden eagle, owls?
Tell us!

By the way Philip, if I was a Benfica supporter I will love tennis like you! Laughing

Thanks Sylvia, the expert in birds already confirmed the information, the one I was asking is the griffon vulture like Christophe said, or in Spanish, buitre leonado like you said!
Very Happy
And the first is a "buitre negro" like we told before.
Thanks again

Thanks for the pics, Roger!
The vulture looks surprisingly good. But hey, the Safari Great Horned Owl is a very big figure itself, and the vulture is even bigger. A vulture sized like Schleich bear won't look very well in a display.
Could you please take some more comparison pics, with bears, wolves and similar critters?

Sorry Kiril, the pics are not good and I don't have Schleich wolves or bears!
Remember that birds are always made in larger scales, even in Schleich figures and that the Euroasian black vulture is really big in real life with a wingspan of 3 m!!! And if you notice it, in the Schleich figures of the second pics are animals with different scales!
First pic with the Papo wolf

With some Schleich figures, red fox, eagle-owl, ybex, lynx and wild soul!
