1:20 Deinotherium model kit Empty
PostSubject: 1:20 Deinotherium model kit   1:20 Deinotherium model kit EmptySat Feb 01, 2014 11:34 pm

I recently purchased a 1:20 scale deinotherium resin model kit from Mountain's Animal Studio.  The model is huge, the tallest point is 10.5 inches and it is very heavy.  This is a nice reconstruction of deinotherium, the ears are not the typical Asian version but are  scaled down African which is a nice change.

The model comes in eight pieces with two trunk versions, one long, one short.  I chose the classic short trunk for my model.

Very nice model Andrew, The small African elephant shape ears are very different from the traditional ones but who knows? Their size is small enough to expose a new point without being to odd for us.

The pic of the batch is really amazing  Applause

Thanks Christophe, you are right, since the ears are still small they are not drastically different than the classic way deinotherium has been depicted but just slightly different.  This species did live in Africa so it is possible it had African type ears but no one knows...or maybe something completely different like tapir/rhino ears such as on the Bullyland model.

I Loove this figure and Mountain and Paleocraft works!! Too expensive but I think they are real works of art in a correct  scale to add to my collection. Hope I can buy all of them someday.

Congrats Andrew for this figure and this wonderfull photos ! Applause

Thank you Miguel, I saw in some of your other posts you also have this African elephant and some Paleocraft models as well.
Mountain Lu is thinking of sculpting an Indian elephant and perhaps a mammoth in the future so those should be interesting!

Andrew, if I'm not indiscreet, how many have you paid the African elephant by Lu Feng Shan?
