Perhaps, if you are not accustomed to Papo, you will find the usual papo-features : The head is glued on and his legs are designed to make sure that he does not fall, - but who cares ? drunken Wink
I LOVE this model !!! cheers

Yes, 2012 is certainly a fantastic year for collectors, - and for children with good taste Wink
"The brands" have worked very hard, and it is hard to imagine all the problems their developers have ( tried to) overcome to make the wishes of the brilliant designers come true.

And still...I payed 4,90 Euros for the Oryx, isn`t it awesome that they can make such small wonders, and sell them, inclusive VAT, shipping, packing, profits to everyone etc, - at such a low price Very Happy

Sorry for my Sunday morning rambling geek Embarassed Laughing

Enjoyable ramblings Susanne Very Happy . I've often thought the same thing: It's amazing how cheaply one can purchase a little treasure, a little piece of art.

PostSubject: Bent horns   zebra - Questions about Papo - Page 11 EmptyTue Aug 21, 2012 1:07 pm

Seeing the bent horns on that Oryx reminded me of a trick I learned a while back. I don't know if anyone here has tried it before, but bent horns, and some times legs, can be put back into shape by running them under hot water until the plastic softens, then put them into the position you want them to stay in and run them under cold water until they harden again. It's always worked for me. Hope it works for yiou too:)

I´m so in love with this oryx... For me, it´s perfect... I can repair horns with hot water. Legs are great for me but I can see the tail is different from the catalogue one... Anyway... This model is wonderful!! Congrats Susanne. I can´t wait for mine :)))

Ahhh, yes Shocked

The tail has been bent so it is moulded to the leg, - a very good idea. No broken off tails then Wink

Thankyou, Martin flower

Nice noticed Martin, I know you pay a special atention to tails, not kidding! I confess when I started collecting I didn't liked attached tails but I quickly changed my opinion and sometimes I think it gives a special artistic touch like in the gnu! Very Happy

This gnu´s tail is pretty good! Only one little thing... hair on gnu´s and oryx´s tail is too short... That is a huge problem on giraffe models from all brands...
Anyway... Papo´s gnu, kudu and oryx are my fav!!! Very Happy

Roger, totally agree with your statement about how companies(In this case Papo) "make similar animals in scale, as we see with big cats what makes a raccoon being much larger than a puma!"

That's still the most frustrating thing to me as a collector! As I often say, I wish Papo and Safari could be more like my Britains zoo animals....

In 2005 and 2006 they were without bell, so perhaps it is an older one ? scratch

Anyway, congratulations with these great, retired models flower sunny flower
