I mixed a lot of golden paint in the akhal teke's coat - but one must be careful not to overdo it

Then I tried a "special" color - homozygous pearl on black or bay ("arabian" behind the dapple grey one):
(the color is not know within Arabian horse genepool, but I like my horse anyway)

Beautiful color! I think it looks even more beautiful than classic champagne, although quite similar. In pear however there is not so much difference between mane and fur colour and the effect is absolutely gorgeous, wow! Very Happy

And, last but not least, a nice tovero paint stallion
I wasn't sure which color to go with here, I knew I wanted a light mane, but since I recently did a flaxen chestnut I didn't want to do it again - although the darker body would put more emphasis on the mane, well I guess he is ok...

So, sorry for the "picture flood", I just had to get this out of my system...
Thank you widukind and Ana Very Happy
The comic artist was Lena Furberg, she's drawn a lot of horse comics. The particular comic book is currently not reachable for me, it is at my parents house in Croatia.
Yes, hom. pearl adds a very special effect to the coat color - I like it.
Also has no champagne freckles.

Just curious, I'm considering purchasing a two-part clay to work with on Breyers, how do you like the Apoxie Sculpt?

Well, I'm also relatively new to it, but so far so good.
It forms nicely using wet fingers or (as I do) a toothpick. Thin parts can be easily snaped, but - it's clay, so you can't expect miracles.
I'm really happy with it overall, clean and fast solution for modeling...

Thank you! Some people have mentioned this brand being sticky, so I'm debating on getting this one, which is a bit cheaper, or Magic Sculpt, which I have yet to hear a bad thing about, but s a little more expensive. scratch

It is sticky when being modelled, but as I said, just have a little cup of water to put your fingers in and the "problem" is solved

That is amazing !!! How do you do that ????  cheers

Fantastic about that pearl-gene ! I never heard about it in European breeds before, but it seems they think it stems from Iberian horses  Shocked
Hard to trace when it is reccesive, but with the enormous development in gene-determination science, it should be true.
I wonder if the metallic sheen in Akhal Tekes are due to the same gen...well, perhaps they already looked into that  Rolling Eyes

Thank you Very Happy

The upper pearl horse is something between these two (pictures not mine):
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

First one is a quarter horse, where pearl is often referred to as the Barlink factor.
Second is a PRE.
My horse should, I guess, have dark tan eyes, but let's say he has some additional modifiers that are causing light eyes - green in his case. There is also a bit of characteristic pearl dappling, it's not very visible Very Happy

I also noticed you can do many different, unusual colors. I just love them all drunken Great work! sunny

PostSubject: Re: Dorotea's repainted horses   Fri Aug 08, 2014 4:47 pm

I've decided to make one representative of every lipizzan stallion line,
similar to the "original" stallion they descended from.
The lines are:
Pluto, Maestoso, Conversano, Neapolitano, Favory, Siglavy, Tulipan, Incitato
To follow the naming convention, I will also add one of the classical mare line names to a horse name.

These are the horses so far (1st two you already know Wink ):
Pluto Teodora
(Pluto - was a Frederiksborg stallion, assumed white with spots)
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Siglavy Allegra
(Siglavy - was a egyptian arab stallion)
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Depending on how the names fit - this one will be
Conversano Capriola or
Tulipan Slavonia
(Conversano - was a black neapolitan stallion)
(Tulipan - croatian stallion line that often results in dark horses; btw. Slavoni(j)a is the name of the region I come from)
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Maestoso Musica
