Schnauzer step by step Empty
PostSubject: Schnauzer step by step   Schnauzer step by step EmptyFri Dec 31, 2010 1:26 am

I finaly got the time to do the last christmas gift, for my mothers boyfriend.

I made him his dog Zacke, a mini schnauzer

I decided to take pics of the different steps in the making of the dog, to test out my new camera Laughing

Heres the pics;

First, I made a rough mold of a small dog. I used aluminum foil as a base, so I would´nt have to use so much clay.

After that, I added some etailes to make it look more schnauzer-like.
I made the legs thicker, changed the tail and ears, and added some extra fur above the eyes and around the nose.

Next comes the hardest part, and the one that takes the most time. Making the detailes.
To make the fur and other detailes, I use a dentist-like object, that I got from my mum.

I always do the back and sides last, cus I have to have some place to hold it while i do the detailes.

When the work is finished, it´s time to put it in the oven.
To prevent the legs from bending, and the ears and tail to fall down, I use aluminium foil to hold it in place

When it´s hardened, it´s time to paint it.
I gave him a little scarf, cus he´s black, and I wanted some color Laughing
And I also realy like the combination black/red.

It was first when I saw the pics on the computer that I realised I hade missed a spot under the scarf, so thats fixed now.

I made him pretty big, about 10*7 cm, so he´s a lot bigger than the schleich-dogs.
Heres a size comparison with one of the schleich-schnauzers

Enjoy Very Happy

The clay I´m using is called Sculpey

I like this clay, it´s pretty easy to work with, and not hard to find online (atleast not in sweden)

Yes the things they do to the animals for "breed" for "showing". The American Kennel Club (and others) need to change all the rules to "aux naturel" except if the dog needs haircut of course. Can you see a poodle without a hair cut? I would look like a Puli affraid

Thank you for showing us how it was made...I will now go and attempt it myself...I just have to decide what critter to do...and when complete will ask everyone "What do you think it looks like?"
lol!
