Thanks! Very Happy That egg is very beautiful drunken I do not think that would work on Breyers though, the plastic is very sensitive and can be damaged by chemicals easily. I have a friend that etches horses into what is considered a "decorator" pattern, such as a racing scene or a day at the farm. I'm amazed by her talent!

Very interesting, I love these kind of topics Very Happy
Though I won't be of much use to you as I always have trouble with necks myself  Rolling Eyes But what I can say is that photoshop (or the free option Gimp) has a "ctrl + Z" option and real time sulpting hasn't, so if you're not sure I'd try how a longer neck looks or a shorter neck. You could also post the edited pictures here and maybe ask some "horse profs" what looks best scratch
Anyway, I which luck and fun with customizing this horsey cheers

And MSS Fox Calling

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

More of him [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

The two above now have a satin finish like the ones on this post, not glossy like on my blog. I just took those two to a live show this weekend, and when I got there, both were completely stuck to the bags they were wrapped in. Sad  The gloss was ruined, I had to carefully sand it all down without damaging the paint beneath it, and respray them in matte. Now they have a very pretty satin finish that will hopefully not stick to their bags.  Crying or Very sad

MSS Shooting Star can be seen [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] is MSS Love me Tender, and [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] is MSS Fall in Love Again.  I have a few in progress that I can get photos of if you would like. Wink

I figured it would work better with all of them in one thread rather than clogging up the customs forum.  sunny

Thank you! cheers They're actually not repaints, almost the opposite - I'm removing the paint. Laughing It's a lot of fun, the first few you do might not come out too nice but once you get the hang of it it's quite easy to master. Very Happy

PostSubject: Custom Breyer G1 Arabian Mare to Chestnut Going Grey Unicorn *Better photos September 2nd   Sat Aug 30, 2014 9:09 pm

The Model Horse Blab forum has several swaps throughout the year, where you make a custom Stablemate for a partner according to their likes and preferences. Your partner doesn't know who you are and you don't know who your partner is. The person you're making a horse for is not making a horse for you. Confused yet? In the end, everyone receives a custom Stablemate. Very Happy

Here's the Stablemate I made for my partner, this was a Halloween swap so I made a little pumpkin to go with my swap horse. Smile

She (the horse Laughing ) has a new mane, new forelock, modified tail, and added horn which was also sculpted by me. The horn decided to break four times, hopefully it won't break again!

I finished her in pastels with the eyes, hooves, horn, and snip done in acrylics. The eyes are glossed with clear varnish.

Do you know, I like the idea, maybe we can make something similar on STS. We have several members that enjoy customizing horses. Maybe it can be done with standard sized horses of major brands? Something to think about. Very Happy

Thanks Roger! cheers I had thought about making the suggestion, but the only problem is shipping costs. As most of us on Blab live in the United States, shipping cost is not an issue. However, international shipping can be expensive. If it could be worked out that each person participating ships to someone in their own country that would work, or if some people agree to ship internationally that works too. When we fill out the form for the swaps on Blab, we have to mark down if we want to ship domestic or international. Very Happy If you decide to go with this idea, please let me know, I would be more than happy to help manage it.

It depends of the interest around it. Maybe we can prevent overseas, our community is mostly composed of North American and European members. Maybe you can try to see if there are people enough interested in these two regions and surely we'll find a way to people that is out of these regions. Very Happy
We don't need to be many to make it work. Very Happy

If we do a swap here it wouldn't be with Stablemates as I know it is extremely difficult to find them in other countries. Wink We would do it with major brand figures. Smile

PostSubject: Custom Mojo Fun Arab Mare in Foal - Chestnut Going Grey by LeeAnn   Mon Sep 08, 2014 1:32 am

I've been in a customizing mood lately. I also cleared out the Mojo shelves of horses at Hobby Lobby. Laughing

Here's the Arabian Mare in Foal painted to a chestnut going grey by me. Smile

I thought painting the eyes would drive me crazy but it was a lot of fun! I bought some super-fine paintbrushes and it wasn't hard at all.

Not too pleased with the result but it's better than the OF paint.

PostSubject: Custom Mojo Fun Arab Mare in Foal - Sunburnt Black by LeeAnn   Mon Sep 08, 2014 1:41 am

Very happy with this girl, I wanted to do a sunburnt black color on her to go with the chestnut going grey and I'm loving the black on her! First I did a brown basecolor, then did darker brown and black on top, with a little more brown shading on top of the black to get the shaded brown/black effect.

The shaded brown/black seems to have worked very well. It is wonderful, I love dark horses and I agree that the color goes nicely on that mare. Very Happy
I think that my suggestion of an American Cream Draft color for Ana's Percheron she received from Harriet could also work nicely in Mojo's Suffolk Punch mare. Idea Very Happy

Embarassed I commented in your Arabian about that Suffolk once I haven't noticed that there were more customs. Laughing
It is wonderful, Mojo horses are turning in excelent candidats to repaint, perfect sculpting, unpleasant painting, what do you great repainters want more? Laughing
Thanks for sharing, LeeAnn! Very Happy

Ha, if James tell me about Mojo's increasing sales in USA I already know who is the guilty. Very Happy
The grey color accentuates the very feminine design of that horse and as far as I can judge, you performed an excelent work with eyes and hairy parts. Very Happy Any doubts of the beautiness of that figure or of your talent? No... cheers
