Removing paint from a model Empty
PostSubject: Removing paint from a model   Removing paint from a model EmptyMon Mar 16, 2015 2:43 pm

Hi,
I am seeking advice on how to remove paint form some little model bears. Its paint that I applied many years ago-the type of paint that comes in little pots that are used for model aircraft.I have tried white spirit and turpentine but its not working-any other suggestions?
Thanks.

Try Lestoil if you have it in your country. If not then Pinesol will work just as well. Finally if you can't find either of those then try Easy-Off Oven Cleaner. Just be really careful with the Easy-Off - that one can eat into the plastic (I'm assuming your bears are plastic?) if you leave it on too long. It ate the skin on my arm once too when I forgot to wear longer sleeves! Shocked

Laughing Plenty of old tricks from the model horse hobby Wink

It surely looks effective !!!!

It seems that nobody has tried it, so I would test in a model wich is not too precious first Wink

I don't want this to come across as cocky but out of curiosity do you mind me asking why you want to remove the original paint? If you want to repaint the model you can just prime over it Very Happy

I just got Schleich figure repainted by somebody using white acrylic over the original paint - if I want remove the white acrylic without erasing the original paint - what you will recommend to me? I have zero experience but I want restore the original paint...
