| Hi everyone. As you can all tell I'm new to STS forums. I found this delightful discussion board group while on the prowl for extinct animal figures, making my rounds on Ebay and other websites. In particular I have been trying to find miniature figures that represent the extinct Tasmanian Tiger or Thylacine. I'm a big Thylacine enthusiast and was delighted to find that MOJO Fun toys released a thylacine with the help of excellent sculptor Anna Dobrowolska. I've since ordered 2 of those figures from an overseas seller. I've since seen the wonderful work done by other sculptors from the custom website LIKAON including that female Thylacine model done by Joan Bestiari. Thylacine by Anna Dobrowolska:[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Thylacine (Female) by Joan Bestiari: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Seeing how these custom models are actually for sale and can be fully painted upon request I'm prepared to order these. But before I do, I'm curious to ask whether the rest of you collectors at STS forums have ordered from LIKAON and what your past experiences were like? Reliable and honest service with decent turnaround time? Prices are they negotiable or fixed? I see the Thylacines there listed for 45 Euro a piece when fully painted. http://www.likaonmodels.com/available-models.html Any help would be appreciated. Both of those models look fantastic. Also If was to order a painted copy of the Thylacine done by Anna, would it be painted like the photo above or was that just a promo shot done up and painted by fellow artist and sculptor Joan? |

| Hello, Sachiel and welcome here The people in LIACON are mainly old, faithful members of this forum, and I can guarantee you that they are serious, reliable and 100 % honest people . I have many models from both Joan and Anna from all the way back when they began making model animals |

| Hi Susanne. Thanks for the quick reply. If I have any questions regarding their work, pricing for each figure and delivery times should I shoot them an email by visiting their website or PM them here at these forums? I'm also wondering whether Anna or Joan would take a commission for designing a Great Auk figure from scratch? Any custom sculptors at LIKAON that are good with sculpting avian animals? |

| Great I suggest that you send a mail to LIAKON. If they have time, I am sure they take commision. You can see my vulture made by Joan HERE, but as a principle I do not like to praise one of these artists rather than another, as I consider them friends, and they are all extremely talented |

| Welcome on forum and I see you are here for very good reasons. These figures from Likaon artists are top quality. Susanne already replied the essential, they're friends of the forum, reliable and honest. Prices are those you can see in their website and normally, the author of the sculpt paints the figure. You can contact them using Likaon website or the forum, they will reply to you. About comissions I don't know. |

| Thanks Roger for the warm welcome. I plan to be a regular member here for the foreseeable future. On a side note I wanted to ask how a collector would go about cleaning these custom models? Is it not recommended to wash or clean these figures with water for fear of the acrylic paint being rubbed off? Or can these figures be washed using water? Or should I just dust them using a feather duster?
I suppose this kind of leads to my next question. Models created by the artists at LIKAON are durable? I would assume no collector at these forums has received any specimens that have broken or had any issues with the paint jobs? |

| Welcome here Sachiel! Fantastic you have found our friends' excellent work I would assume you would be able to wash the models, but I wouldn't chance it. You would need to check with the painting artist to make sure they seal the color. Though any handpainted model is best cleaned with a soft cloth, not water, no matter if it's sealed or not. These models are cast in resin. It's fairly durable, but of course you need to be careful. Resin can break easily, but if you are gentle there is no issue |

LeeAnn replied to the durable question and also how to clean them safely. I have some figures from Joan and Anna, both Likaon artists and all figures arrived in perfect conditions and masterly painted. |

| Thanks Roger for the reassurance. Now I just play the waiting game as I haven't received an email back yet from both artists. On another note anyone here care to explain how Joan decided to paint Ana's Thylacine? Can that paint job be replicated by Ana? |

That is something you need to ask Anna and Joan About cleaning, I keep them behind glass so they don't get too dusty ( I have three dogs and a wood stove, all make a surprising amount of dust ). But if they need dusting, I use a semy-stiff paintbrush |
