| I finished my Breyer custom! It was my first attempt at airbrushing, repositioning and hairing, so I´m quite happy with the final result! | Tobiano is the most common sort of paint-pattern. Others are (these 4 stem from differnet gene-loci and in principle a horse can have all 4 ) : -Splashed white, which ist almost reccesive. Homozygotes have white on the belly and a large , white "helmet" that covers the eayes. -Sabino is like somebody threw white paint a thin pattern on the horse. -Overo is also called "frame-overo" because - wit a bit of fantasy - the horse looks like having a dark "frame" when seen from the side. Overo is lethal in homozygote, so breeding Overo is a tricky thing if you don`t know what you are toing. Homozygote foals are born white and utterly lovely, but without a rectum. So they die a horrible death if not put to sleep immediately ! Sooty, - well... sooty  |

| A bay horse is a "brown" horse with black mane, tail, legs and muzzle, and usually they have a dark area around the eyes and inside the ears. In fact, a bay horse is a black one with a gen that dilutes the body color into a reddish brown. Tobiano is a pattern, and it can occur in any coat color. Tobiano horses usually have white legs and hooves (well, hooves are not white, are light brownish pink). Their markings are "vertical", with sharp edges, and they usually cross the topline somewhere between the ears and the tail. The face has common white markings.
