News in Susanne's collection 2018. Update of 2018 a bit late : 14th Jan 2019 ;-)

A bit of cheating, because I got them on the 30th of December, but it is always a special feeling to start a new year with brand new models

I love the rabbit and the horse. The owl is nice, but it seems that Safari ran out of paint . Just look at the log it sits on

New animals for safari's oceanic animals  
This Safari vaquita is just SO adoreable  
And the lemon shark is  - if you collect sharks - an absolutely must-have

The huge Florida Panther. Also a fine model, and the first I have ever seen , which was specified as this subspecies of cugar

Impressive beasts !
Unitatherium and Megacerops    
Wonderfully sculptured, but again, Safari is saving their paint on the latter

Grrrr! DANGER !  
Hyaenodon and Daeodon are loose

And last, not least : Amazing Mastodon, and - A Macrauchenia

The Macrauchenia makes my heart smile whenever I look at her  She is so lovely ! So elegant and somehow cute and innocent looking

Stunning models all of them, I enjoyed looking them over with great photos. The Schleich wolf pup is very disappointing... but I'm impressed by papo's either thus far.

Congrats, lots of great acquisitions!

As a collector focused back almost exclusively in wildlife, the first picture is the one that grabs my atention. Though, all your pictures show figures of big interest. Vaquita and lemon shark, what a pair for sea life! The two Schleich dinos are nice too and all the prehistoric from Safari are quite impressively sculpted. Megacerops is so great that it doesn't need any kind of paint. Macrauchenia looks surprisingly good, we are used with the old good Schleich but I think this Safari's is equally good. It looks so small but maybe it is mastodon fault.

This is the second posting from a forum member now I have seen of the Safari North American porcupine, and it confirms my initial thoughts that it is better than most people give it credit for.

Is this people aware that it is a new-world porcupine? Do they also have any idea how challenging is to replicate an animal like this one when there are such limitations because of children safety? I don't think obviously it is a masterpiece but I am very happy with it and I intend to acquire it for my collection.

But your photos and your expression also helped me to choose one more - the Macrauchenia !
I was not so sure about this one from the official photos, but now - jumped on my list :)

Susanne what do you think of the Siamese cat ? How it is in your eyes ? :)
I think it is great looking , with very fine paint work ... just the tail is a bit strange...

Also what is your feelings with the two Safari dogs ?

And if I may ask a last question ...is the Babirusa very big compared with the Collecta one? ...
because compared with the other 3 Safari models it is big indeed :)

Thanks for asking.
The model is a very old fashioned Siamese cat. Even heavier than the so called "Old style" Siameses.
It is how they looked maybe 120 years ago: Heavy build, with round head, rather long fur, and not very clear markings.
In my opinion the one from Papo is much better , but of course I am happy that Safari made a Siamese kitty.

Let's get over the negative first : Both have had their tail cut off, and the boxer has even had his ears cruelly cut almost off  
It is no secret that I hate and despise this kind of cruelty to innocent puppies  
That said, they are wonderful models !
In Denmark we rarely see the charming King Poodle anymore, and it is such a wonderful dog
The boxer is a beautyful model : Powerful and alert. But I don't know much about this breed

Wow! What wonderful models for 2018.
The porcupine and vaquita are my favorites.
And I'm afraid I won't be able to resist the Schleich Yorkie. What a cutie.

I don't understand why the birds from Safari ltd. increase in price every year, but don't get the paintjob they deserve. I still haven't bought the birds from last year because of their steep prices.

So great photos, Susanne! You have convinced me!  
The Safari animals from the first picture will find a place on my shelves.The Macrauchenia too....and....

The last couple of weeks I got some news from great friends

Four little monkys came as a gift from Philipp ( PeGe)  !
I have admired this set from Nayab for a long time, and now four of them are here

Again Yvette has been the good fairy !
She sent me a parcel filled with great stuff :
The set from Schleich with the vetenarian and the orangutan-baby ! The vet has a bag and several small vet-things  
I was wishing for this set for a long time, and Yvette even found it at reduced price

This little birdie-critter is ever so charming !
Again, Yvette found one of my wishes at a very good price

The magazine with the Hanoverian foal  13818 ( bay) in black

Here is a true rarity ! Originally  ( 1991 - 1993) this model was a T-rex, but when Bullyland made a larger T-R, and this one became their Allosaurus instead, which it stayed untill 2001

Here they are, both of them. The T-rex also came in the lighter green colour at first.

So even if this model is not extremely, very rare,  it is the text on his belly, which makes him so extremely special !!!!

And last, not least : A black tinker !
I have stopped collecting all Schleich horses, and at first I told Yvette that I did not want the "exclusives".
But I did not have a black Tinker .      
So regretted, and asked Yvette if she might be able to get it for me anyway, and guess what : She already bought it for me !!!!

I have these little Nayab figures, it is such an interesting series. Though, they look even nicer in your picture. Naturally, Yvette is the fairy that finds all these rare figures. The AlloRex is very interesting and show a little how these things work. The special Tinker is also nice and now you have the dark side of the creature.

Excellent additions, Susanne! Those new Safari LTD models sure are wonderful sculpts! I really love the fact that they did a Florida panther for a change instead of a regular North American mountain lion.
