Leyla , - a brand I have not seen before ;-)

Untill I joined this forum , when I thought of composition models, I thought LINEOL . Full stop !

I didn't even know what they were made of, - perhaps Linoleum , the stuff that was on the floor in my old school ?
Actually that is near enough.

When I found out that there was also a brand called Elastolin, I was twice as wise

After that it took me a loooong time before I got even wiser.
I heard about other brands here, but never understood a thing about all the inter-relations of the brands, - and gave up

But a couple of years, Yvette gave me a couple of "Massefiguren" ( composition model in German ) , and they are gorgeous

For the last year and a half, I have succeeded to get one on Ebay now and then, - mainly buying the cheapest ones, because I still know next to nothing about them
And discovered that there are HEAPS of brands, many from the the middle of the 1900s or so

Last week I got three LEYLA models  
Again, I did not pay a lot, and it tells  
But now I have the pleasure of holding these funny and charming toys in my hand

The advantage of their sad state is, that it is not a "sin" to restore them , - so when I have drooled enough over them for now, they are travelling to Bulgaria, where Kosta will give them a new life

The tiger is particularly nice!

That's very interesting! These Leyla figures look somewhat like 1990's animal toy design but they're manufactured like the very old figures they are. With luck, some other members have something to share more about this company.

I can only tell you non-animal stuff...they had composition ranges of civilian figures in gauge-1 (6+ figures) and O gauge (14+ figures) along with at least 6 sets of HO gauge styrene figure sets like these...

They probably did model trains or line-side scenic stuff as well, military subjects and tin-plate vehicles of the Wehrmacht?
