I had these 2 fish since I was 10.  They appear to be similar to Play Visions but they have no logo, company name, or species name on them.  Plus, their paint jobs are different than the PV tropical fish.

The one on the left is a flame angelfish.  I don't know what the other one is.

???? Some PV copies have very strange colors sometimes so it is maybe unrelated to a real species. I hope the forum specialists will help Very Happy

The one to the left is a Hawaiian Flame Angelfish and the one to the right is a Orange-Faced Butterflyfish. Neither are Play Visions, I own multiple small tropical fish like these. Very Happy

Now that is exactly the point what Christophe mentioned.
Often these models are bad copies, and in colours which are not realistic, and not belonging to any species whatsoever.
Only think of the copies of the 6 Schleich corallfish.
Good in model still, but no real colours!
So it is anyones guess which species this should be. Shocked

You are right, I own multiple of those unrealistic fish. Very Happy These ones are poorly painted but they're actual species. Very Happy

Yes ! And you can say they are poorly painted, or turn it round : you could also say that it is impressive how they have succeeded to picture them so real with a few lines and colours Very Happy
I think if it were fishes that live in the water around my place, I would never be in doubt what they are Very Happy

So yes, they are models of fish, but no real species, because they combine the wrong colours and patterns with the wrong shape in most cases...

These particular fish are real species. The colors are a little off. But if you were to compare the models to a picture, it'd make sense. Wink cheers

I am not a fish expert but these copies often use molds randomly. Sometimes the same mold is painted with different colors so the mold often doesn't match the painted species. In this case, I think the painting should be prevalent to the identification. :)

Exactly, and as a fishexpert, and i can say that after 40 years of keeping tropical fish, beeing an international author on tropical fish, giving lectures even on universities, and beeing a teacher for everybody who is selling fish in the Netherlands...
But i am not a real expert in coralfish though, although i know a lot from this field also.
But that all doesn't matter, as any collector of animal-models can see that a lot of these models are far of the reality...
