What I really want to get from 2011 new figures:
1.Schleich Kudus!!!
2.Papo lioness!!
3.Schleich badgers
4.Schleich foxes
5.Schleich Dartmoor Stallion
6.CollectA manatees box
7.Papo Elephant with baby
8.Papo Yak
9.Safari Ltd White Rhino
10. Safari Ltd American Badger

I've already bought the wolverine and Arctic fox from Schleich :) Arctic Fox is better than I though, it is very nice figure! I like pose and texture and even this very new kind of paint which is like pearlescent or something. But from wolverine I expected more, I mean I like it, but it could be better. I don't know, maybe face could be more detailed and tail a little bit longer than it is. But in general I like both new models! :)
I'm waiting for kudus (!!!) and also for buffaloes. Although buffaloes are not on my top 10 list first because in my opinion Papo buffalo is much better, second because of it's texture which is, in my opinion too furry(!!). I like calf much more and I will surely buy it soon. I will buy adult too-buffaloes like herds :) . (I hope next year schleich will make female-calf needs mother :) and maybe mum buffalo would be in grazing pose. But this is not right topic to post this kind of thinking :) )
What is not as fine as I wished-the lesser kudu by Safari. In my opinion it doesn't remind real lesser kudu, especially shape of body and legs. Legs are 5 times too thick Sad I know, we may say the same about Schleich gazelle but additionally I don't really like the painting job.
I want also buy the Torak set with bear from Schleich, I like the pose of this new bear very much :) Also I like all new rabbits but none of new cats from Schleich.

Thanks for sharing your expectations, Ana!
And you know, I always like the sharp estimates and remarks you make about various figures. Like this time - about the "pearlescent" paint or the wolverines's details.

I share the same hope! A buffalo female, and in the grazing pose exactly! Wink
Although, seeing how Schleich is lingering with a much-needed ostrich mother, I don't give very high chances for a buffalo cow grazing in the nearest future...

Hi Kiryuha :) I'm happy You like the idea of grazing buffalo female :)
But about pearlescent paint-it was about Arctic fox paint!!! It has something like that, well I don't know if made in Germany versions have it too, but mine-made in China-have this kind of paint. It's very much like snow surface, I'm not sure if it makes figure more realistic but I like it :) But did they took this kind of paint from Elves' line? I don't know Wink

That's a good Top-5, no doubt! But what do you mean saying that you only collect Schleich? You don't buy any animal figures by other brands? Why then? I'm curious Wink

13 people have shared they votes to the moment, and I'd like to sum up intermediate results - the whole picture becomes more and more clear :)
I've counted only mentions with no regards to places,as not all the people put their Top-10s in decreasing order. Also, I've counted only wildlife figures and if a person wrote "kudu + calf" I count it as a single kudu"two-figure piece".
So, here we go:
1. Papo Mandrill - 10 votes (inevitable leader!).
2-4. Safari Capybara - 7 votes
Schleich Kudu - 7 votes
Schleich Badger - 7 votes
5. CollectA Manatee - 6 votes
6. Bullyland Lammergeier - 5
Then there are ten figures with 4 votes each:
Papo Young Lioness, Papo yak, Papo Bactrian camel, Papo Asian Elephant;
Safari Indian Rhino, Safari bobcat, Safari American badger;
Schleich Cape Buffalo, Schleich Wolverine;
CollectA Snow Leopard.

Please, those who'd like to take part and haven't voted yet - share your expectations! Our survey would be more representative if we have 20-30-50... respondents. Wink
I think, if we have Top-10s from at least 40 people, we can share the results via Facebook, for example, and present it as the survey of 20% audience of the most influential forum.

I think we can already sum up the results of this little survey, as more and more 2011 figures come to our hands and we can evaluate them properly – but that would be another story…

So, 17 people have shared they votes so far, and the whole picture is more or less clear.
I've counted only mentions with no regards to places, as not everyone put their Top-10s in decreasing order.
Only wildlife figures were counted and if a person wrote "kudu + calf" I count it as a single "two-figure piece".
Here is our Top-9:
1. Papo Mandrill - 12 votes (inevitable leader!).
2. Schleich Kudu – 7.5 votes (lucky luke voted for the kudu calf only, so it has 0.5 more)
3-6. Bullyland Lammergeier – 7 votes
Safari American badger – 7 votes
Safari Capybara - 7 votes
Schleich Badger - 7 votes
7-9. CollectA Manatee - 6 votes
Safari Indian Rhino - 6 votes
Schleich Wolverine - 6 votes

i like the idea of having a different thread for each year. that way, we can keep arguing about 2010 animals without getting them mixed up with 2011 and then 2012 and then 2013....

Maybe the name of the section would be "Best animals figure of the year..." ?
I like the Roger's idea: inside this section we will just write name of the years: 2010, 2011 etc, in separate threads. Then we will be able to look what was chosen in each year in the past too. :)

Maybe the name of the section would be "Best animals figure of the year..." ?
I like the Roger's idea: inside this section we will just write name of the years: 2010, 2011 etc, in separate threads. Then we will be able to look what was chosen in each year in the past too. :)
I support this proposal!

The best 2011 figure is, to my taste, the Safari ltd Cyclops. cyclops It was about time someone makes a cyclops figure: and Safari Ltd's Cyclops really matches the myth: 2011 GOLD MEDAL to me. cyclops

The Bullyland BEARDED VULTURE wins the SILVER MEDAL to me; what an incredible figure, representing such an original bird, and so resemblant. cheers

The 2011 BRONZE MEDAL goes to CollectA's Kelenken: an incredibly neat figure with lots of research in recently discovered prehistoric animals. Very Happy

I know I will be repeating myself (I talked about this very often in Laughing Giraffe forum), but what frustrates me the most is that Schleich is retiring, little by little, ALL ITS PORTUGESE-MADE PRODUCTION. Evil or Very Mad In other words, "Made in Portugal" Schleich pieces are going extinct, Sad because now Schleich moved 80% of its production to China, where they can pay their workers ten cents a day or so. Yet they won't lower their prices for that: we pay as much for "Made in China" Schleich as much as if they were still european-made. I'm being sick of the invasion of "Made in China" items we see in stores: skirts are made in China, shoes are made in China, shirts are made in China, plates are made in China, glasses are made in China, spoons and forks are made in China, plushies are made in China, board games are made in China, Xmas decorations are made in China, plastic toys are made in China. Now, even the so-called "five-star" companies are made in China. Industries around the world close their doors and many people lose their jobs because many companies move their production to China, where there are no laws to protect workers. And that makes me angry. Mad I miss the time when we had toys made in England (Britains and Invicta), made in Portugal (Schleich), made in Germany (Schleich and Bullyland), made in Mexico/Taiwan (Mattel). Now, everywhere we look, it's Made in China, Made in China, Made in China. And now, Schleich is no exception. We pay high prices... for Made in China. Crying or Very sad

And so representative of the original Greek mythological being! It was time someone makes one: the only Cyclops available on the market up to then were the 1997 Disney Hercules one and (for the luckiest searchers) the 1991 Monsters in My Pocket one! A popular mythological creature like that, not more represented than that. Be honest here: cyclops are so well-known... YOU CREATED AN EMOTICON FIGURING ONE cyclops cyclops cyclops cyclops
