The classics mammuth Empty
PostSubject: The classics mammuth   The classics mammuth EmptyTue Feb 01, 2011 7:46 pm

For a long time I was looking for the grey classics mammuth. I did have the black one, but didn`t see the grey one on Ebay.

However, before christmas I got another great prehistoric classic, - the last one of the brightly coloured dinos, and I was very happy Very Happy

Then last month they suddenly appeared in great hordes on Ebay.de. Lots and lots !!!!!

It was a bittersweet feeling to see so many of my painfully collected gems for sale Shocked
There were sets with all the dinos + the mammuth, and they were also sold separately.
After a while the prices fell, obviously the marked was saturated.
So I bought a set of them all. Hurray, inclusive the grey mammuth. So now I have both :

But I got a chock when I saw the dinoes, - they looked like REAL plastic : Shiny and "plasticcy"
Here you can see the ones I had before, nice with subdues colours, and then the new ones.
The seller had told me, she had found 190 of them on a fleamarket !

When they arrived here, my first thought was that they were copies What a Face
But then I discovered that they were marked differently. They had the Schleich-mark on them, and not the old Bendie-mark :

So now I wonder when they were made...

According to Gascher`s the grey mammuth and the coloured dionoes were made in the years 79 - 90, and the black mammuth 91-94. But the oldest ones surely look very new.... Suspect

Thank you for the new information and wonderful photos, and congratulations, Susanne... cheers Yes, the sudden "flooding" of eBay.de with these dino sets has rendered them affordable. I have a set of other classics coming from "rosenrot" and I see that "tuscheltusch" whom I have done several deals with and is a very good seller, also has been offering lots of them. So many, in fact, that I have to wonder if she isn't the fourth production facility for Schleich AG... Wink
