...Soft! Laughing There are old and new models Papo,s mammoth. I have two old models, because I don,t like new model (the eyes are located on the forehead and in general model is "rough made") Neutral

...old model Papo,s mammoth (left and right of herd)

Thanks, Christophe. Well, the hardness of the tusks wasn't the main concern... I was just curious.
Thanks for the pix, too!

Eventually... Papo won in the competition. cheers
I just ordered it online - the perfect Christmas gift!
The superiority of the Papo sculpt and its "dramatic" appearance won my heart.
I like figures with artistic touch on them... Cool

I'm sure you'll like it a lot Gabe. Both Papo's are amazing. The new one WAS my favorite, but then I finally got the old one and... I don't think I need to say more :)

...By the way my friends... There are many species of mammoth (this gorgeous animals). Look at the pictures! But unfortunatly all brands makes only one - "tundra mammoth" (Mammuthus primigenius)... So I think we can use different models by different brands as "different species" (because they have different scale and image)! Wink Wink Wink Laughing Laughing Laughing

... Hi Frederik! Privet! cheers Quite the contrary it,s translation to Russian from English! Laughing And the original book is:

ZOOBOOKS: Elephants by John Bonnett Wexo.- Published by Wildlife Education, Ltd (1996)

There are many issues of this series (ZOOBOOKS from 1996) about different species of animals (bears, lions, hippos, gorillas and etc.)

Two weeks ago I saw this Papo Mammoth at the local store here in Singapore and I was amazed and bought it without any doubt. Initially, I thought the Schleich's counterpart was better. Until I went home in the Philippines last week and have a look at them together. Papo is actually is better, bigger and taller in size. The tusks are soft and bendable and the body is not as hard as the Schleich's.

Here are some of the pictures that I took just now:

Papo Mammoth 55017:

So I'm not alone Wink . The Papo mammoth is indeed far better than the Schleich, it is even better than the commercial pics of... The Papo mammoth Laughing

Same here Baltimore zoo - I do like the Papo but it's eyes seem too high and too far forward. Safari ltd is my favourite I think.
But Congratulations Ron, he is a lovely addition and a nice size too! cheers

Thanks Gabe. Better grab before it's gone or whenever the price drops again at your site. It's a good figure nonetheless.

Thanks Christophe. By the way, my pictures are all blurred. Sorry for that.

Yeah, I thought so too. The catalog's picture is actually not so nice but different in the actual. That's always been the problem of Papo figures in catalog. They are not photogenic enough to inspire many people.

Thanks Susanne. Although I must admit that my photos are not good enough to see the details.

Of course I like the Schleich's Mammoth, it's my first Mammoth after all. Besides my daughter likes to play that whenever she's watching the Ice Age movies. But then I like the my new Papo's one even more. :)

Anyway, we'll see once I got the CollectA and the Safari Ltd's Mammoth. We'll compare these four Mammoths together. :)

But actually, I will really get it together with the CollectA's Mammoth. But will only be possible after September maybe because I wanted to get all when everything I have wanted is already out in the market? So, basically I will be waiting for the Schleich's September release first and get everything at one go. Rolling Eyes

Instead of producing Wooly Mammoths(since there is so much "copycatting"), I would like to see one of these companies make
a Colombian Mammoth! Of course I know I'm asking for too much...
American lion would be nice too....
