Yes, I remember, while giving my imput on Mojo's tamandua development, watching some videos of tamanduas in that standing pose. Very Happy They're really funny, I think they use it to show their huge claws to eventual predators trying to intimidate them. But you have to see it on videos, it is really funny. I like that Kaiyodo was brave enough to provide us again some unusual poses. Very Happy

It indeed is a funny pose and I think it's great Kaiyodo's making figurines in this particular pose!
They indeed take this pose when feeling uncomfortable, to intimidate their 'attacker'. The sad thing is they also do this on roads when cars are driving towards them, so lots of tamanduas get killed by cars Sad

Deep sea set is an aquarium--not a CQ--release, and available now Of course that means the cost is significantly higher.

Please PM if interested.

The Unique Animal Zoo 2 set releases next week.

As far as I can tell, there is no July animal figure release (other than the big triceratops) and I see no Kaiyodo August release at all (though I'm told there is a big figure expo this summer so there will hopefully be some surprises).

But, these are the two September CQ releases, one celebrating twin pandas born in a Japanese zoo...

Accepting orders now.

Thanks.

I am disappointed by the offerings. But I do appreciate the saving to my wallet!

Thanks for keeping your good work informing us about these new Japanese sets. It is also not particularly interesting for me but surely very interesting for a panda's enthusiast. :)

I was surprised early this year when no one showed interest in the Hoikkado giant panda and then none for the same subject in the Unique Zoo 2 set (at least on its own, though buyers did so for the tamandua and shoebill).  And so far, though I only announced the set to my mailing list today, I've gotten only two takers.

I'd have thought a species so iconic and charming would garner great interest, but I guess it's made by so many other companies that some are tired of spending money on different versions of it.

I certainly don't need eight or even four panda cubs in my Kaiyodo-only collection, but these are of course very nicely done as usual--and will display well alongside each other--so I'll buy and display some of them for sure.

As for the insect/arachnid set, I especially like the jumping spider but they all look nice enough to buy as well.

Still, I'm hoping there's some news coming from the pending expo, and one of my most wanted sets remains one of prehistoric mammals--though I guess for this board I should cite another of tremendous interest--modern ungulates.

Is it a sugar glider or a Leadbeater's Possum? It kind of looks like the Discover Science/Animals of Australia one.

Either way...how is that related to a series that is otherwise hedgehogs? Other than maybe as pets?

I'm just glad that the Kaiyodo prehistoric and marine sets had some gems, because I have to say, the CQ sets have not really done much for my collection this year.

Could be a possum as well, I just assumed it was a sugar glider Razz

If it's supposed to be a sugar glider, it could make sense because these and hedgehogs like the ones in this series are kept as pets. I'm not sure if Leadbeater's possums are kept as pets as well scratch But still, I don't understand this series completely.. What a Face

Three figures, one of which is virtually identical to one already released.

I never collected the pet series but nonetheless a set this small and lazy is disappointing for me, particularly after no CQ animal releases in July or August and so many sequels, small sets, and repeated species throughout the year.

Not the most interesting set but I think it has some interest. They could easily include a long-eared hedgehog once these are also common as pets but never released as toy figures, Ii guess. The marsupial is probably the most interesting. Very Happy

Yes great offerings this year, in my opinion Kaiyodo produces the best sculptures out of any company, just very accurate and nicely painted.
Its good to see them releasing larger animal models such as the African elephant, gorilla and panda vs the normal tiny capsule models.  I hope this trend continues.

The warthog is interesting because they actually bend down like that when grazing.

The series 6. Are they fridge magnets?
I ask because the Penguins and Hippo look like they are lying down on the surface.
Not standing up.

It looks like an updaate to the older Asahiyama set--and yeah, they are magnets.

Me--I'd like to know more about that salamander and komodo dragon!

Argh...

If the figures in the first set have elements of the zoo (I can see the gorilla does but not as worried about that one...) I'll be extremely, epically disappointed.

Finally making some iconic world species and I don't want nor collect them represented in captivity...

The rhino and lion have not been announced for release, along with the elephant they are old models from the 1990s.  The pictures I posted before were from an old exhibition.
Only the elephant has been chosen for a re-release but there is always the possibility that some other old models will be too.

I'm really interested in those poseable figures. I haven't seen that trait very often with animal models. I guess it's hard to create joints in a way that doesn't interfere with the model's realism/aesthetic.

Kaiyodo's sculpts are outstanding. I wish their models were a little easier to get hold of here in the US.

Here we can see, that it will be not a small model actually.
Which means, that the Panda will be the ame size :
