| I was wondering, with the diverse range of skills present in the forums here, if anyone specializes in making jewelry. I'm working on a piece right now and I'm pretty confused about it. I have a bail (which will be attached to a pendant) and a 72-inch chain. My question is, how do I make this into a necklace? I don't know exactly what length to make the chain, but 72 inches is too long. I would greatly appreciate any help. There aren't any photos at the moment because this project is not something I want known until later. |

| Sounds like great fun. I hope you will show us your work ? I have not made jewelry since I want to school in the stoneage, and I don't often wear jewelry , because I am so much outdoors. But I do have some. When it comes to length of the chain, I would say that it is best that the pendant is not where the collarbones meet, as it can be irritating if you have a coat on or such. Right under the collarbones is what I like best. |

| Hmmm. It isn't easy to measure when it is a surprise But I would think that it is easier to make the chain a little shorter than to make it longer...so I would make it so I am sure it is long enough |

| Very curious now :3
I can't help either. But Susanne gave good tips! Or you could make some small chains at the end of the necklace, so that the person can adjust it for their own length. I don't know how to explain it in English... _________________ ~Karin~

| That may help with the sizing. I do know someone else though who would take almost exactly the same size and might be able to help. I also thought of making it adjustable like you said, NightLioness. EDIT: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Would this work? The chain would be cut to equal lengths and the red thing in the middle stands for something like a keyring with the pendant on it. |

| Good idea make sure the ring is smaller than the pendant on it. Focus must be on the pendant and not on the ring _________________ ~Karin~

| Thanks. The diagram isn't to scale at all but just for an idea, but thanks for the consideration if I were to plan it that way. |
