| These are almost the only ones available on swedish webbsites. The Breyer horses, especially thinking of the classics and traditionals, costs the double up or even more than the ones on foreign sites. And of course there is not so many to chose from, but I do find those that is older then the ones on Breyers own site. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]I really like them, especially the adult paint horse. The stablemates are bigger then I thought they were. If you ask me they might have been a little more detailed.

| These stable mates are manufactured in a completely different way from other brands. One of the negative points of this manufacturing process is that they cannot be richly textured as usual on other figures. Texture is poor and also painting turns very glossy. However, they are very well sculpted. Great proportions and poses. Also a generally decent respect for many of the charactheristics of the represented breeds. I have some of them and I find them very beautiful pieces. About the size, they are indeed a little larger than other 1:32 horses even this is the scale used. I think they are more around 1:30. Congratulations and thanks for showing them. |

I think it's also the matter of the material they use. Stablemate-scaled Artist Resin horses are incredibly detailed, but they are also more expensive, and limited. I lovem the anyway, I'd love to get these sets someday, or at least the moulds used in them _________________ ~Magda (formerly Mangalarga) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Blog | Facebook |

| Your Stablemate Breyers are really cute I looked the new ones up in the Breyer Book - the one on the left is called Native Dancer and was produced from 1976-1994. The colour is called solid medium gray with black points. The one on the right is Swaps, also produced from 1976-1994 and the colour is described as matte/semigloss chestnut; darker mane and tail; right hind sock/stocking Both were sculpted by Maureen L. Calvert |

| I think that can be a question of time. They are completely different from other brands. It is not easy to accept them immediatly. My first contact with stable mates was not the best but with time I strated loving them more and more. They are not heavy because they are hollow. Very easy to break but with delicate legs and wonderful poses giving a lot of beautiness to these wonderful creatures called horses. Though, you have always the chance of trading them. There are lots of members collecting Breyer and they are not easy to find in Europe. |

Stablemates are not hollow There may be some air bubbles accidentally tapped in casting process, but from what I know they are not meant to be hollow. Bigger Breyers are cast from different materials, and yes, the bigger ones are hollow :) _________________ ~Magda (formerly Mangalarga) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Blog | Facebook |

Calvert I know what they are called and what year they are from, is stands one both the package and on their bellies, but I did not find their specific coloration on the identification site. I really want to know how "valuable" they are, and if I did pay to much or just what they are worth. Thank you anyway. - Roger wrote:

Well, I will keep them. Even if I'd don't like the "easy to break" part :) |

| I got two new horses. The first is this wonderful classic appaloosa foal. It looks so much better in real life, it's just so lovely. I really like how the it looks so transparent. Weird thing it is not as much as a letter or a number anywhere to be found on it. I think it has it's "breathing hole" but it is hard to tell. The other is a paddock pals appaloosa, is it wobbly the word I'm searching for having it not standing properly? It have a lot of markings, but I think some of them might be removable with an eraser. | Lovely indeed! It is a shame that other major brands cannot make legs like those due to the known safety reasons. |

| Roger, do you mean because they often won't stand properly or because they might easily break? Got a new package today. I had to walk all the long way home with one arm on the bike and the other around the package. That is how big the thing was. But I'm still positively pleased how "small" the traditional are. Wonder how long I stay that way. And I still find it interesting how light weighting they are. Both of these are traditional, Hidalgo and Fade to Grey. I really like Hidalgo and would not stand not getting him having the chance, but the first thing the first person I showed him to was "Is the paint rubbed of or is it supposed to look that way?"... Anyway, I like him, he is well sculpted and he stands properly. I like his little chestnuts on the legs and I really love flaxen chestnut paints, even if Hidalgo here is not all to much on the flaxen side. Other is to be said about Grey here. I don't like him He stands really poorly and I can't relax all the way seeing as he fell down just having me walk by the cabinet I put him in. And I don't really trust the things I used to give him some support. Can't say I loved him seeing him from the start, his tail looks... weird and the pose is not that good looking. Now I'm just picking at the poor thing. But really, he looks better on pictures than in real life. What do you people think? :) [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

| Sweet horses! The Hidalgo is presumably supposed to be a sabino frame by colour, so they've rendered the lacey edges of the markings with a stencil, I think. Sometimes there's overspray or the stencil moves or something, and you get funky effects. :)
The running grey is an older mold by Chris Hess and is known to have some balance issues. His pose is rather an awkward one, I grant you, but I've always liked his muscle detail and that the sculptor cared to extend that to the model's barrel as well, and didn't leave it just a smooth ..well, barrel.
His balance could benefit from a small stand, if you wanted to try that. I have several round transparent Breyer stands (off the Keltec Salinero mold) and would be happy to send you one. All you'd need to do is either skewer the stand to the model's foot with a shortened hot pin for a permanent attachment, or craft a peg-and-hole system with some epoxy and a drill (as I recall all the stands I have are pegless for now). Do PM me if you'd like one of those to try on him. |

| I mean exactly that, if the figures have thin legs, like old CollectA Arabians and are made of a somewhat harder plastic, they break easily and can hurt a kid while playing with it. Also, if they are of a softer material, like new CollectA Arabian, they bend easily what turns the figure not appealing and makes it not stand properly. Most of Schleich light horses are not very realistic because they have thick legs and, the brand, to not make them with thicker legs, made them in boring poses to keep them in a good balance. Though, CollectA surprised me completely with the gnu, the figure has a harder plastic, thin legs, good balance although its dramatic pose, I would love they could make the same work with horses. Great figures again! |

Do PM me if you'd like one of those to try on him. I do hope "paint" is the right term for the swedish "skäck". I read a lot about horse colour genetics, but I find the different kind of paints hard, it does not help that the swedish terms do not exist or are just weird in general. What does the "frame" mean? I know of frame overo, but sometimes it only say frame, for example frame/tobiano or frame/sabino, and there is no overo to be found. And I think I have read only overo somewhere I did not read anything else then the year about the mold before buying it. As you said it is nice in some ways, I just got overly negative seeing it in real life and having it fall down so easily. Just my nightmare, having my "shaky" hands. I already have had problems with the stablemates I got. The dark liver foal will not stand at all (at least not straight) without support and the adult draft horse will fall very easily. The tail of the adult grey one do not even touch the ground! So it stands on pretty much only two legs with one of them only with the tip of the hoof. Why did they not use it for balance then it have such a long tail? I think Hidalgo have the best balance of all my Breyers. Or maybe soon after the palomino stock horse. I send you a note with my broken english in a moment. - Roger wrote:

Great figures again! I don't understand how it can be so hard to have things not breaking and not bending easily. Must be because of other more important priorities I really like the gnu to, even if I like some of the Schleich for their "simple" poses it would be fun seeing them in more epic ones as it becomes boring after to many of the same. Not to say I don't like the more dramatic ones of other brands, I do love those. I often wonder how Breyer can be "toys" then they so easily break and scratch. Well, I have not broken any of mine, yet |
