I believe the Indian Gaur is the first Mojo animal I have in my collection. If all of them have this shiny and chunkiness to them, I probably might investigate seeking out a few more of them. Though they do seem to be more cheaply made than either Schleich or Papo, and less detailed or realistic so maybe not... However, I like Titan a lot, I found him randomly on Ebay one day while looking for something else and he came at a ridiculously cheap bargain, so I decided to take the plunge and buy him. I didn’t regret the decision as he turned out to be a wonderful model of the animal. He’s chunky and heavy and has enormous build and weight to him. His body is just so HUGE! He has very small, short little legs underneath, but the body above is massive. Each leg is white with a gradient of brown up to his body, the same goes for his face which has a white nose but gradually turns to brown. Titan’s pose is a neutral standing with all four feet on the ground and his head turned to the right. He has two small upward curving horns a little like a muskox, and some good detail on his body like ridges of muscles and a flap of skin at the base of his neck. Other than that, not much else to say about him.

I love the figure Judy the Gnu from Papo. I don’t think gnus tend to be a popular animal as animal figurines and even knowledge about them go so it’s nice to see Papo making a sculpture that isn’t so well known or at least a good bit more unusual. I particularly like her pose and realism, as she stands with all four feet on the ground and her head turned downwards and to the right-hand side. This dramatic twist of her head and her somewhat defiant stance makes me think Papo thought along the lines of real animal hunts when designing her as she could be placed in a diorama complete with lions maybe hunting her? She has a tall mane standing straight up along her neck and a beard under her chin. The horns are upward curving and sharp and her tail is whipped right around to her rump. Overall, she’s a nice mid brown, with lighter legs and beard, which in turn is darker charcoal tinted brown on her back and face.
She’s a great addition to a collection focused on African animals and wildlife and once again I feel Papo have beaten Schleich with this gnu as she has far more movement and action to her pose rather than another neutral one.

Rating:  Indian Gaur- 5/5
Gnu – 5/5

I think that both of them are great models of rarer species. They are both nicely painted and you can see that they are powerful animals. Both are definitely on my wishlist! I like the name Titan for the Gaur and Judy for the Gnu. Judy sounds very sweet and it's kind of amusing because she's in a such powerful pose.

thank you Katy and really I dunno why I called her Judy! What I like about her is she's realistic, you don't immediately think 'feminine' in looking at her pose which is how animal sculptures should be

I would definitely agree with that. I've actually always thought that the Gnu is supposed to be a male but I am very happy that it's a female (or at least a gender less one) as there are not many female antelopes out there.

I think the model might be genderless and as you say there aren't many female ones about I decided she's one!

I love both models. No other Mojö figure is shiny or ressembles the Indian gaur, even those which were sculpted by [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]. Ana, instead of using the exagerated texture we see on many figures these days, regardless of the type of fur being sculpted, she decided to give a smoother finish to represent better the fur of these giant bulls. It, fortunately, resulted in a shiny painting which matches the shiny fur of these creatures. In my opinion, the Mojö gaur is one of the best toy animal figures of ever and it was awarded on STS as figure of the year. Mojö doesn't have a coerent style as we used to see in schleich some years ago. Some figures are very good, others are not so good, just make your choices.
I love the wildebeest. I have it for a long time and I bought when I was giving my first steps as a collector. At the time I liked it but I was unsure about the size or the pose was too dramatic. Fortunately, Christophe suggested me to buy it and forget my objections. I changed a lot as a collector and now the size is not anymore such a decisive thing and the pose is something I really love now.

Thank you Roger and I can see what you mean about the shininess, as looking at the other models', they definitely don't have the same look as Titan, he's an animal apart in terms of the chunkiness and being less cheap looking.
As for Judy, I adore the dramatic pose and would recommend anyone into realistic animal to add to their collection.
