Beatrice the Border Leicester sheep in scale 1:12 :-)

Hi, hello friends  

I started a small, one-week project for fun. It's the model of Broder Leicester sheep. I wanted to sculpt this breed of sheep ever since I saw them on photos for the first time. They are so unique and funny with their rabbit-like ears and roman noses. Here more about that breed: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Border_Leicester_sheep

I thought I probably should start more serious sculptures, maybe a horse or a wild animal. But for some reason, I had no energy and enthusiasm for starting this kind of projects just now. That's why I chose something that I consider a bit easier and more for fun.  I gave myself one week for this, so I hope it's finished by Monday.

(Now she has almost pink coloured fleece, it's because I use the softer version of Super Sculpey and it always has that colour)

Beautieful sheep Anna :)

Anna is having a coup de cœur! That is a very unusual project and I think that working for fun works also as a kind of therapy to refresh your ideas to newer and more serious projects. Though, working in such a unusual looking creature seems also very serious to me.
The head of the real sheep looks, from some angles, slightly like a kangaroo.
I think that maybe Nayab sheep was inspired in a similar breed.
One thing I am sure, if Carolynn was around, she would surely love this project.

Roger, yes, I think it's quite refreshing to sculpt something different sometimes. And, maybe because it's not commission or request I feel like I'm having more fun. It will probably stay in my collection as an OOAK sculpture

About the Nayab sheep, yes, I think it's possible it was supposed to be this breed, even though the neck is considerably shorter. Nayab sheep could also be Texel Sheep? They also have upright ears and they have short necks.

Our greatest STS sheep collector, Carolynn isn't visiting the forum from some time, I think? It would surely be interesting to hear her opinion, as I'm sure her knowledge about sheep is great

Anna, I think Texel sheep is closer to the Nayab figure indeed. Even considering that Nayab tends to make shorter necks, as we can see also in their fox, f.i., the difference is big with the breed of your choice. Texel seems to have shorter ears but it works anyway.
Carolynn visited the forum recently, if you send a pm to her, she will surely visit your topic and give her opinion. There's only a little risk for us , is that anytime I tried to compare the Nayab sheep with real ones, Carolynn told me that there was a complete flock somewhere angry at me.

Wow it is an incredible model made with care and profesionalism... Althogh I like more wild animals, this figurine is simply one of the best of any class...Congratulations
