Reeves Int. taking over Collecta?

Looks like it's true  It came up on Facebook group while discussing the new Gypsy Cob mould. Someone posted this:

Really? This could be very good news, especially regarding the availability of CollectA in the US.

I just hope that CollectA will keep up the good quality, with all the rare species they brought to us in the last years. I'm a little afriad that they will get much more expensive. But we'll see what will happen...

At first I was chocked !
Seen from the perspective of collectors, it is rarely good news that a brand is taken over

The front page of Reeves didn't comfort me much, as it is filled with extremely toyish toys.
But when I found info about the owner and see he is extremey fond of animals, I sort of begin hoping for a bright future for CollectA

I hope they'll keep the current quality and range of animal figures. We don't need another Breyer after all
I'm also wondering if they're gonna add more sculptors for horses? We'll see :)

mmmmh...very bad news indeed....in the ad is clearly written that they "hope" to start production of the rest of other animals...and to me this means "never"....they will just product horses that's it...the golden era is over.

I hope, that Collecta will produce rare wild animals and ancient mammals again. And not become a horse brand only.

To be honest, I can't belive that, they are just showing the new figures for 2017 and I really can't think about that they won't come out, or at least don't be sold, the development of a figurine isn't cheap. Maybe our members who have a good connection to CollectA know a little more about that.

Forgive me if I'm skeptical, but it is the internet. I realize that such news may be given in advance to select groups, but it sounds like something Reeves international and/or Breyer horses and/or Collecta might have listed somewhere. I mean, I've been using my phone to surf and may have missed something, but I'm finding nada. Nil. Naught.

this does not sound like good news for dinosaur lovers. for all we know, these new guys dont know jack about prehistory, and might not care wnough to know, and will thus bring the brand back to the dark ages....or worse.

poor reviews on Reeves Int ( in the link ).... Mojo went the Animal Planet way .. CollectA goes the Reeves way ! I think the only change (IF AT ALL ) will be the prices (Breyer figures cost a ridiculous amount)..Guess we wait for more news .. Hoping for the best ..because collectA is very special .. will be a shame if policies of manufacturing and pricing changes because of any merger /takeover...

Ahh did follow that link to Minizoo news !! Exciting !! .. I think one of the reasons collectA has few figures in wildlife this year was the merger /takeover .. and they will have more horses released this year .. change is part of life and hopefully some changes will bring more better things !!

I am also the first to hear of this and have made some enquiries....will get back to you all with more info when I obtain it....

I am wondering whether Reeves are just taking over production and distribution of CollectA models in the USA only. I doubt CollectA is actually being fully overtaken as I know the director/owner of the company is very passionate about the models and wouldnt want it taken over. Perhaps some miscommunication here but I will certainly find out more information.

I have had emails from CollectA. Reeves is indeed the North American distributor, but apparently are also going to somehow be involved with production (given that they are stamping their name onto them).

That said--this January the intend to carry the domestic animal lines only (Farm, Dog&Cat, Horse). The other lines (the ones many of us like/prefer) will be available to retailers as ordered, but they don't currently intend to carry them as regular stock. It would make sense to me to at least have the current year releases, but I guess they know what they're doing?

I haven't gotten anything from CollectA about this but I have heard from Reeves. I hope they continue the quality of the models and improve the paintwork, sad to hear about the other lines though.

Thanks for the info. I have mixed feelings about this since I collect both their dogs and dinosaurs, but they seem to be testing the US market. Hopefully, they'll release the rest later on if their domestic life sells well.
