COLLECTA 2017: WILDLIFE - White Tiger (88790)

This is the white tiger model (not species specific) but it has been created using the same sculpt as the Siberian tiger.....

It is a lovely model, but ...isn't this one a Siberian tiger with the heavy fur under the belly ?

As far as I know, there are no pure-bred Siberian white tigers ?

You are absolutely right, but remeber that this is a toy and not a lot of children will think about the subspecies. And a lot of people like white tigers, I think it's more a marketing statey of CollectA, because it's cheaper to use the same modl and just paint it diferent.
Oh and also the Lion couldn't be white, as only P.l. krugeri has the "white gene" in their blood. As Numaan said it should be a P.l.bleyenberghi.

Yes, and that is a problem. I have met some little girls who proudly declared that white tigers are Siberian, because it is cold in Siberia.

BTW, - it is interesting to see how well camouflaged the "natural" tigers are in a snowy forest, - much better than a white one would be

Oh I understand what you mean, but the biggest problem is still that a lot of people don't even know that there are different tiger (sub)species. And the most have difficulties to identify them.
I think the only way to show that there are these subspecies would be doing a set, all in the same scale and showing on diferent cards the diferences of all them.

It is probably too late for Papo, who already have so many, and now Collecta made a white Siberian tiger - but Safari perhaps ?
They have at least one great artist, and they have the species name moulded on the animals
