Thanks Juan for the pictures!
The black panther 387017 is in fact the same mould as the leopard 387018 and is obviously a leopard too!
The sculpting looks nice, the typical leopard long tail and less bodbuilt than the jaguar! But it looks like the squared nose could improove, clearly the same style as the Mojo lion! It is in a nice walking pose in contrast with the Papo and CollectA that are in a hunting pose. Maybe slightly slender legs for a leopard would be better. :)

For the bison... Idon't know what to think scratch . the head is quite good I guess but there is something with the body... The shadows on legs and body are too crude and it seems it is even smaller than the Schleich

Great pictures Joan! I very much like the head of the Bison, but like Christophe said the strange dark shadows on the body and I don't really like the position of the legs, looks too stiff.
The Black Panther is nice, not that I want it to be chubby like Schleich animals, but maybe it could be slightly thicker set, I think he looks a little too slender. I like his pose though.

I like the bison quite much, although the painting on the belly and legs looks a little bit strange. But texture of fur and head sculpting is OK. Pose is too much like Schleich. I prefer the bison from CollectA but this one as I said is good too.
Black Panther is good, walking pose is beautiful. Good proportions of the body and tail. I just would add more details on the head and that's all cat

thank you all!
what I like more of the buffalo is the different textures for the fur (head, shoulders and body) I don't know if other brands made that detail.

I'm sorry, I was still searching why I don't like that buffalo too much. I already said I like the head and dislike the painting on the body. But something on the body was still disturbing me.
I know what now : The body is too small. I mean it is like the head and the body are not at the same scale.
The legs also are too bulky...

Some pics

Yes, definitely legs are too bulky pig Proportions between head and body are exactly the same like in Schleich model but yes, they may be wrong. I prefer the collectA model also because of the proportions scratch study

Better tell them the bison is OK (in general it's true). If they divorced with CollectA better not even mention this name Wink You can tell them the bison would be better if the legs are less bulky and painting more subtle-that's all. Cool Maybe suggest more interesting pose too :)

No problem Anna! :)
I don't need to tell them because they are reading the treads, they are already studing some changes for next series!
, We, as collectors, sometimes have to use as reference the nice work make by other brands! I told in another topic that my favourit bison was the CollectA, not the Papo or Schleich! And most people had different oppinion, and this is fine!
I think this bison is already a very nice figure, to me, only seeing pics, better than the Schleich, but it could be better. So when someone give his oppinion in a improovement direction that is great! cheers

Well, I like both figurines. The buffalo looks realy nice specially on the head, but the body looks to skiny and the shadows looks wrong. But anyway it is a good figurine that worth having on the colletion.

Regarding the black panther (melanistic leopard) I really like it but the face looks not real, at least for me that face looks a little bit cartoonish. Eventhou it is a great figurine.

This brand will become a very good one in the near future if they keep doing this excelente work and taking us the collector in consideration.

Most of the members share the opinion for Bison - the head is really realistic but as come to body is too compact. if they going this should actually consider make body longer and for the panther body is good and head still lack of something.

Fantastic pictures, Joan cheers

And, - WOW, you got them alsmost before they were made Shocked
Congratulations cheers

I love the panther, and think it is a really, really good idea that the head has this "something" like the lion. It it probably one of the reasons for the success of Schleich : One is very rarely in doubt what brand it is.

To be completely honest, I am sorry to say that the bison is looking a bit strange.
If I was a vet I would say he needs to have medicine for worms.
No, no, I am not joking, I mean it : The way he stands with his hind legs shows that his tummy hurts (even if he tries to keep smiling), and the head too big shows that he did not grow well as a calf Crying or Very sad

But all beginning is difficult, of course , I can`t wait to see more bounce bounce

...The both models in general are good. About bison... I think Mojo,s bison not worse than model by famous Schleich (and maybe better). And it,s victory for young brand! cheers But my favorite is Collecta bison - it,s more detailed and realistic. Look at it,s scin on my pics! Wink I,ve bought two at once! But I,ll buy Mojo model too!cheers

Hmm, bison looks good, but like many of you said, it looks a lot like the schleich one. And just standing, Imagine if they would make a running one. Tail upp, head down, in full sprint, like the old lineol one.
Now that would be something drunken

I like the panters body, looks better than in the catalog. But theres something with the head that I dont like.
The nose looks a little to square from the side, I would like more detailes in the face, and a little darker, more to the orange, eyes. they are too yellow.

But they look realy good for a newborn brand Very Happy

Hello friends.

I think Christophe is true, looking to his photos the head is too big (something what happens to Schleich in its animals too Sad, and about the painting, I don't know. The shadows on the rear legs are to accentuate in some muscle, take a look on that detail:

About the face of the black leopard you're true too. Maybe the eyes are so yellow and maybe they need more detail around the eyes, making theme a little bit more small (only with painting)

As to the panther, it's not my pair of shoes. Neutral

I told Mojö about the smiling face. It's something that I don't like (as many other collectors, I think) and they noted it.

On first site, i like both models.
But the bison is to small in the first place, if they wanted to make the model in 1:20 scale, and sure in compare to the Schleich musk-ox, because they are quit small on their leggs...
He looks like a cross-breed between the Schleich and CollectA model to me... Laughing

The black panther seems ok to me, slender is normal for a leopard/panther.
So i don't know what you really mean with "it is a leopard to obvious" Rogerio, because we are talking about the same animal and species, the black panther is the common name that is used for black leopards... Rolling Eyes
I have to say, that is used the name panther in general when i was very young, and later on i got used to the name leopard. :)

Willy, a black jaguar could also be called black panther since it is a panther which refers to genus Panthera!
You know leopards and jaguars are different species and have very different morphologies, and it is obvious that it is a leopard because it is slender and as a long tail, obvious at a point that you are saying exactly the same. AS obvious the CollectA figure you called a jaguar is also a leopard!
I hope this "obvious" is not beeing understood as a manifestation of vanity! silent
And thanks for your comments about the figures! Very Happy

Well, i think a jaguar is a jaguar, and a leopard a leopard...
When i mistaked for some reason, than it was because of the spots, because some model-makers, and most of the people that don't know much about animals, don't know which cat has which spots...
But sorry, i never heard somebody call a black jaguar a panther my friend... Laughing
But for that, they call the puma in Florida the florida panther, very mistakingly, and very confusing for outsoders! Shocked

Willy, honestly I don't understand, of course a jaguar is a jaguar and a leopard is a leopard! Who said something different???? confused
Is true, the name panther sometimes is used for felines that are not from genus panthera. And CollectA leopard have the spots of an unknown species, anyway much more according with those of a leopard than witha jaguar.
I know many people make some confusion between both species, for example, in Schleich 2010 catalogue they have it wrong! Sad
For the name black panther be used in jaguars see this link of Wikipedia, I know that not everything in this site is correct anyway I can give you many other links
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_panther
You will see that the first picture is a jaguar

Well, as i said, a jaguar is a jaguar, and a leopard(panter) a leopard.
I can't help people, even at Wikipedia(which don't know very specific things anyway) using the wrong names for the wrong species... Laughing
A jaguar should only be named jaguar, or otherwise just Panthera onca, and exactly for that they made scientific names!
The leopard, with his black variations(as in more cats with spots) should only be named that correctly, the name panter was a name from the past actually, but is still used for black leopards, so Panthera pardus).
We can't help that people who have no clue at all sometimes, call an animal by the wrong name...
Like in South-America, i was there several times, they call the jaguar "El Tigro", so the tiger, how far can we go in this then?
Then there would be no end to this...
Calling a zebra a horse or donkey or so, or any wild cattle just a buffalo?
I think, as we are animal lovers, and little scientists here, with lots of knowledge of the animal world, we should name the animals by their right name specially... Laughing Wink cheers
