The rainbow grasshopper, Dactylotum bicolor.

One figurine, by Joyce Fritz Studio. This is actually a piece of jewelry (a pin) that I found at a tourist shop in New Orleans. When I saw it was painted to look like D. bicolor, I decided it should add it to my figure collection!

The honey bee, Apis mellifera, and generic bees apparently based on the honey bee. Bees are very common and nearly every 'bin' set has one; interestingly very few figures are specifically attributable to A. mellifera. Of course, included here are figures marketed under the useless moniker, 'killer bee'.

I. Honey bee, Apis mellifera.

A. Larger and elevated figures.
1. Safari LTD (Incredible Creatures)
2. Trendmasters (Insect Predators)

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]image hosting

B. Smaller figures.
1. Play Visions (Bees, Wasps, and Hornets)
2. Discovery Channel (Terrors of Nature: Most-feared Beasts)
3. K&M International (North American Insects)
4. Bullyland [caste set: a, queen; b, drone; c, worker]

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]image hosting

C. Life Cycles.
1. Insect Lore
2. Safari LTD (Safariology)
3. Tedco Toys

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]free photo hosting

II. Miscellaneous Apis-like bees.

A. Larger figures.

1. VERY large figure by Toy Major.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]image hosting

2. Miscellaneous; all from unknown manufacturers except No. 1 by Learning Resources (Jumbo Insects).

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]image hosting

B. Smaller figures.
All of these are from unknown manufacturers and distributors. Most probably came from dollar-store bin sets. There is some Toy Major influence in a few of them...

I have re-imaged the Opabinia figures correctly! Thanks for catching this, Kiki. They must have gotten mixed-up when I moved.

Goliath beetles in the genus Goliathus and some miscellaneous Goliathini.

I. Goliathus goliatus.
1. Furuta (Choco Egg Funny Animal Series)
2. unknown [Japanese] manufacturer

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]photo uploading

II. Goliathus orientalis.
One figure, by DeAgostini (World Insect Data Book).

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]photo uploading

III. Goliathus regius.
One figure, by Play Visions (Exotic Beetles). This is an ID first proposed by brontodocus and I second it, based on elytral color.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]photo uploading

IV. Miscellaneous and unassigned Goliathini.
Miscellaneous figures not attributable to the genus or species level. These first three are all by unknown manufacturers (the two smaller ones appear to be XX or Play Visions knock-offs).
