That's great Susanne! I think there are enough votes for the siamang!

Not too late Shardur! I wanted in first place a pardel lynx and I will not have it but with such nice species the winner will be a great figure!
I hope you have the chance of vote in the top 10 finalists poll, not the caracal but many other nice species, and there you have to small felines like serval and clouded leopard!Very Happy Click here and vote...

Yes I know.
By the way, I have already voted - for the clouded leopard. I would vote for any cat. But I will eagerly await the winner anyway.
Maybe in the far distant future we will have a model for every (cat) species.

Thanks for your participation Shardur, if this iniciative is successful, probabily we would have more surprises and more rare species! But it depends also fof how interested is the collectors community! cheers :)

Wow, glad I found this thread.

Hopefully I'm not too late, but these are my three choices:

dhole

douc langur

SABLE ANTELOPE!

Good to see a company trying to make it's bones by appealing to the collectors. Very smart strategy.

It would be cool to make similar survey once again - to find out a collector's choice for 2013.
As there are much more people at the Forum today, this survey would be more representative and even more interesting!

If Mojo is interested in it it will be done. But isn't it too early? :)
It was also nice if other brands had the same philosophy! I know you are very close of Safari, what about to choose a figure to the American brand, Kiril? Wink

About too early:
1. Mojo has started similar survey at their FB page, an the results will be in December.
2. The more time we have - the more people would be able to vote. We should set an aim, say, to draw not less than 50% of our forum members to the poll - that's be cool, but we'll need about two-three months, I think.

As to Safari - that's another case. They are not startup company and their production plans should be more stiff. But I'll email Safari, why not?
Another problem - the name of our forum... Safari is present at Laughing Giraffe, they even quote it at their Facebook page (look here).
Maybe its time to continue this discussion about external representation of our community?

I'm sure in Safari people is open minded enough to do not care with the name of the forum.
Mojo Fun is also not Schleich and Numaan, is very close from CollectA and his user name is SchleichZoo. Laughing :)
Probably Mojo is giving some life to their FB and a choice of their fans do not compromise another choice from STS members, I guess.
And it is not possible a pole with 50% of members voting, not even if the choice was of a Schleich figure. The real life of a forum and FB page is not how many they have but how many are active.
And the sable is not a general collectors choice but a choice from STS members! Looks the same but it is not! :) I hope Safari listen to you and of course I will also try again with Mojo! Very Happy

But now - express your opinion, Martin!
I believe that the forum's heading and welcome text should be changed!!!
My proposal instead of "Schleichtiersammler" heading:
STS Forum - International Community of Animal Replicas Collectors

The intro text needs to be changed too! I mean this: "Welcome in the forum. You will find here very much informations about animal replicas".
First, one should correct mistakes. Second, we should add some info - about figure exchanging reviews & collection photos, about our international community, maybe tell the number of countries from which our members are from.

Sorry, i came back late in this tread again, and i want to come back on the wild-horse theme with Sylvia.
It looks as we talked about 2 different things before... Rolling Eyes
For me, a real wild horse, is a species that lived in the wild without any human intervention, so like the tarpan, from which the last one died in 1887, and the Przewalskihorse.
So the term wild horse on its own can be used for any horse that is living in the wild right now, but all of these populations are more or less controlled by humans.
It is known that probably all the other horses and horsebreeds came from these 2 different real wild horses.
I know the fact, that they are actually all the same animal, in all of his variations.
But all of the wild pony and horse populations, besides the Przewalski's are living there, because people did put them there, or they escaped from human captivity in the far past, and some of them went back to the original horse very much and closely indeed.
So that is what i ment before, and that is the difference for me if a horse is real wild or not. Cool

Actually it is mainly the same for the dogs, as the dingo decended from domesticated dogs in the past, the New Guinea howling dog is even more primitive in its genes, and the chihuahua has genes that not even go back to the wolf, but more to the foxes! Shocked

I am not an expert in modern horsebreeds, i confirm that strongly, but any wild living animal, or shortly extinct, was always my biggest interest.
And since i am very much interested in genes, extinction, evolution and pre-historic mammals i have my knowledge there to from about 40 years of gathering this... Wink

....

And Gazehounds ( the really old breeds from round the Mediterranian) have more genes in common with the jackal than with the wolf Very Happy

Moreover, I propose to type the heading about collectors' community in several languages, according to the number of nations of our members - English (large letters), German, Spanish and, say, Dutch (smaller letters). The same could be done to the welcome text.
Also we need a thread with explanations - how to post, how to include pics - to be always on top of the "Only for members" section. And I think we should also make this thread multilingual.
