| Hello all! I know I don't post on here often but I follow almost every topic on this forum haha. I am curious what everyone's own "Grails" are in their schleich collection? How did you get them, how much did they cost, why do you like the figure/s, etc. For those of you unfamiliar with the term "grail" I mean what is your most rare or valuable, overall most important piece of your collection. Or if you don't have one, what are you looking for? My personal grail is my trio of special goats, 82717 Billy Goat 82718 Nanny Goat 82719 Goat Kid I first saw a post about them maybe 4 or more years ago, there is so little information on this and it was rare for anyone to have the complete set from what I saw. As an American collector I thought these were pieces that I would never find. At one point there was an eBay listing for the billy goat costing over $500! This was the only one I could ever find. So I waited and waited, and searched for hours on almost every countries eBay. There were rarely, if ever, any listings for these goats by their number. Finally one day in spring 2015 there was a lot of about 15 schleich that were inconspicuously displayed on a brown table. In the back I noticed 2 different looking brown goats. I think I almost did a hot lap around the room because it was them! Even if it was only the adults, they were still within my reach. The whole lot was up for auction starting at $80, more than I would normally spend for 15 animals but this one had the goats of my dreams haha. I was in Florida for spring break on the last day of the auction, there were no competing bids and the goats were mine! I think others didn't want to bid on this lot because of the high starting price. This worked out for me though because I saw it as $40 for each Goat which I was willing to spend. All in needed was the kid to complete my set, once again I thought I would never find him. Then last summer 2016, I came across a listing that just said "schleich goat kid". It was clear that neither of these sellers knew what they had. The lone kid was only $6! I waited for the last day of the auction, once again no bids! So I was finally able to complete my set All of them came from American sellers and were not listed with their number. They do have some wear but are in overall pretty good condition for their price and rarity. Sorry for the poor photo of them but it's good enough for now [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Hope you enjoy! I would love to hear others stories and see your pictures! |

| It is great to see you posting here and with such an interesting topic. I am not exactly a collector of grails and I don't know which of my Schleich is my grail. When I started collecting, almost all retired Schleich were grails once I was not using EBAY neither trading. Though, soon, the generous people of this forum started giving me figures that I never thought I could own them. It is good to remember that some years ago, even a standard Schleich was quite expensive on EBAY. Yes, a musk ox about 20 Euros, it is surely a high price for me and I don't collect very exclusive figures. So, all very wanted Schleich I remember, the musk ox, wisent, armadillo, giant anteater, among others, are just considered vulgar figures but I remember receiving them with the same enthusiasm as they were extra rare figures. |

| YOU HAVE ALL THREE What a grail !! What wonderful rarities You worked hard to get them, and you surely deserve them It is a wonderful story of persistance and determination I can see that you have several rare model, - the striped ones, and those two cows. And is that the white cat I can spot to the left ? And the white lion ? Is it the one from the big waterhole-set ? I will have to think a little about what my grail is Does it have to be the most expensive one ? Or the one you love most ? |

| Thank you all for your replies so far Roger- I agree! I am lucky enough that my cousin and I had been getting schleichs all of our lives and he kindly gave me figures like the musk ox I'm glad I got a bit of a head start. The ibex was one of those figures for that I was so excited when I finally received it. Susanne- Thank you very much for your admiration! I do have quite a few or the exclusives and special editions, I will have to share photos of that entire shelf. I do have the white cat and white lion and white cub from the waterhole set And I do not think grails have to be the most expensive, it can be the one you love most! I think that grails can be anything a person likes most. Widukind- I am so jealous of you being a German collector! I am thinking about making a special trip there just to find the super pinto of my dreams haha it would be so fun to be able to find older models in person instead of just ordering them online. |

| Oh wow! These are Nice!! Great rare Schleich animals. I am also not a Schleich collector anymore, oké, sometimes I buy a Schleich. But if there are other brands available, I choose the other brands XD
I think my grails are the two carriage horses :3

| I have a lot of Limited Editions and Repaints. Quite some of them are very cherished. My dearest models are the MPV white friesian stallion, the palomino Trakehner stallion, the blood bay Müller Trakehner, my two new Friesian Stallion repaints, my Jonas custom, my red old friesian stallion repaint, my red Dartmoor repaint. I can go on and on. Even some newer, regular runs, I can keep looking at.
