PostSubject: A very personal repaint   Thu Apr 27, 2017 3:46 am

I decided to take a break from repainting wild cat and delve into a much more personal project... Repainting a domestic cat model into a much beloved pet that past away seven years ago. I chose the Papo 54033 (sitting cat) as the base model since it looked very much like our Xena. After that, it was just a matter of repainting it to suit.

And here's our cheeky little girl, grinning at the camera. She was such a clown!  Laughing

And here's a colour pencil drawing I made of her a couple of years ago.

My husband and I have no kids, so our cats are our fur-babies. We were blessed to have Xena in our lives for seven beautiful years before she was taken away from us too soon due to lung tumours. Everyone that knew her fell in love with her; she was shy, sensitive, affectionate and smart as a whip. She knew several tricks which she performed on command, like "wave", "beg", "sit", and even jump into my arms.

We currently have two other cats (Angel and Mia) which I will immortalize as "repaints" as well. Thanks for taking the time to read... It's still a touchy subject for me. After seven years, the hole in my heart still hasn't healed. Crying or Very sad It never ceases to amaze me how our pets leave such a void in our souls once they are gone.

Thank you, Karin. Cats are like potato chips... It's kind of hard to stop at one. Smile The more, the merrier. We are currently owned by two little munchkins we got from our local pound as kittens. They aren't from the same litter, so they have a love/hate relationship between them (female competition... Now I know where the expression "cattiness" comes from!) They are spoiled rotten.

The grey one on the left is Mia (aka Boof), and the white/calico on the right is Angel (aka Rattyy)

I love these projects where our pets have little representations of them. Very Happy
Your Xena was surely beautiful, love to see her tail in that video. Laughing The draw is incredible, very feline and the work with eyes and "hairy" parts is phenomenal. Very Happy Thanks also for presenting your two furry babies. cat cat

Thank you so much, Roger!  Smile I've already purchased two figurines to represent Mia (Papo Chartreux cat) and Angel (Mojo Ginger Tabby cat.) I've chosen these two because their shape was just about right for each of them. I'll be personalizing them when I get the chance.

Such a beautiful tribute to your beautiful Xena! The little model looks just like her. The drawing you made of her is amazing, too, such wonderful texture and colours! cheers

Having lost two beloved pets last year (my guinea pig Barney, which you can see in my profile pic, and my dog Salsa) I know how much it hurts when their time comes. But it is so nice that you now have a tiny figure of her, so she is still with you. :)

Thank you so much, Tom. And I'm sorry for you loss.  Crying or Very sad  Such small creatures, and yet they leave such a great void when they are gone.

Thank you for sharing with us this part of your life, Happiness and sadness are alas the two faces of the same coin.
I enjoy watching your video, we can see how much Xena was important for you and I'm sure you gave her as much as she gave you.
Thank you

She looks so similar to my Luna... The repainting is awesome but the painted portrait is breathtaking! I love them
