miniNature's 3D printing animals - Update May 20: Finally Hyenas and more

Thank you all! I'm happy the dromedary is a species I can make more people pleased with. These 2 models I made as commission and the same person also want the camel in the future, so that animal will come some day

It’s time for a new bunch of models. First I made a new Brangus breed bull on request. Here is the result:


And I was totally into the hippos last week. I wanted to create a big herd of hippos in the water for dioramas, so I ended up in 14 new hippo models. Most of them are cut on the waterline (like I did with the Water Buffalos) so they can be placed in a diorama. It’s a bit too much to show all the models here, but I’ll pick out a few.




I also found a photo of a strange splashing hippo in the water I never had seen before and I loved this pose. It was like she is synchronised swimming :


Of course hippos with their mouth open couldn't be missed. Here is the result of a hippo out of the water:



And yawning in the water:


Last I want to show of the hippo bonanza is this couple of fighting bulls. This was also inspired of a photo of 2 bulls on a riverbank fighting. Normally you see it in the water, but like this, I think is more impressive:

Thanks! This weekend I also worked on a new request for a cheetah hunting an impala. Is ended up in 2 separate models with an impala and a cheetah running.








These models are not stable. The cheetah is only touching the ground with one paw, so this should be glued or attached on a different way to a diorama or a base. The impala is totally in the air, so this one can be placed on a transparent stick or maybe it can jump over some scrub in a diorama where it can be placed on. Hope you like these new designs!

It's been a while since I've been able to visit STS, so I'm thrilled to see that in that time you've been building an entire savannah ecosystem! Wonderful work! I really love your hippos!

The cheetah is amazing

I’ve worked on some new requests and I love to show them to you. First I got asked to create an African tusker bull. Later I realized the reference photos I received and worked with where of the same elephant as Andrew’s model is based on , namely Satao. It was one of Kenya’s largest elephants, with his tusks almost touching the ground. It was killed by poachers with a poisoned arrow in 2014.  



And the other request was for 3 lionesses as an addition on the buffalo hunted by lionesses scene.

Thanks! No, this model is designed like it is in air, so the legs don't match up with a horizontal plane. So for in a diorama it can be placed on for example a transparent stick or on some scrub.

Great, a standing lioness. It has a beautiful pose. Britains didn't make these, so I was hoping you would. One suggestion: It may be an idea to make the animals that can't stand free in a version with a base as well. Or perhaps a few separate bases to choose from so we can glue the animal onto it. It would be difficult for me to make a base that would do justice to your animals; I am sure that even if you make just a simple base, it would be much better.

Love the elephant and the action on these lionesses!

Good idea Roger! I’ll try to create something uniform that can be used by instable animals.
I also have some new things.
First I created again 2 new cheetah poses. A new male:


And a standing female:



And here is a new species!  The common eland:

Very well done and realistic again! One can see those are cheetahs easily, no colors are needed. The eland is equally excellent!

I love the cheetahs, eland, rhino, lioness and some others. How long time will they be available. I'm sure I need minimum a year to collect them.
Could you write me please the shoulder height of the cheetas in 1:14 and 1.16? I can't decide which series fit better to my "already have" big cats :) The siberian tiger male has 7,5cms shoulder height.

I'm planning both, but I already started with the spotted hyena, so that will be the first hyena released I think.

No problem Noémi with time, because of the 3D print technique there is no need for molds or stock, so they can't get out of stock and I'm not planning to put them offline, so you can take the time you want
And sure, here are the sizes: they all vary a bit in height to make it realistic when they are put together, for the 1:14 it's between 5,4 and 5,9 mm and for the 1:16 that makes between 4,7 and 5,2 mm. So they are all when 1:1 size between the 75 and 83 cm height, with the females a bit smaller than the males. For me it's also no problem when you want a different scale that's currently not online.
