My last work is a commission to paint miniNature impalas. The texture of the figures is different from the normal resins to be made by 3D printer, but I think they are impressive figures! Very Happy

You did an awesome paintjob Miguel! It’s very lovely to see someone turning a model, I only see in one tone when I created it, now in such color. Thanks for shearing! Smile

This material is indeed a bit different material than the more expensive normal resins (frosted ultra/extreme detail). This White Strong and Flexible material is made out of nylon powder, so it gives it a little grainy feeling. I see the grainy effect looks great on the body, with the paint giving it a bit furry look, so not that bad for animal models Cool .

Thank you Andreas and Stijn ! Very Happy Very Happy

Stijn, I find it very interesting that you say because despite the fact that the texture of 3D printing is very suitable to imitate the hair of certain figures. I can think of the texture of the hair of a lion or leopard. Cool

Another commission I've had is to paint another figure of yours, Stejn. This is Kirk's dik-dik in 1:20 scale. Very small and complicated to do but I think the result is nice. Very Happy

You did also an awesome job on the dik-dik Miguel! On the computer I can zoom as close as I want, but painting such small models are challenging indeed. Laughing

Yes, like you see on the 3D renders in my topic, it’s possible to model the tiny details, but because the White Strong and Flexible material is the cheapest material to print, it also comes with a bit lower detailed accuracy than the Frosted Detail Plastics. For some type of models, that’s a downside, but indeed for most type of animals, like also the cats, that’s totally no problem.  Smile

Thank you Andreas, Fernando, Stijn and Susanne ! sunny

Stijn,You have reason to say that there is no problem the material a little more rough in certain species because it gives more texture and in the other hand I really almost go crazy painting this miniature, I do not want to think what will be the Dik-Dik in 1:22 scale Shocked Shocked Laughing

Yes, true, but other animals like for example reptiles, where you want the smooth scales, it’s good to know that they will be a bit more rough. But no reptiles at the moment yet and when they are come, there is also a polished version of that material and otherwise the other material. I can’t also offer the dik-dik in the white material, because he is too thin for that printer. Luckily I created the dik-dik and not the Zebra Duiker, around the same size in model, but also the needs to paint the stripes.Shocked  Laughing

I understand perfectly what you say Stijn as far as reptiles are concerned. And one figure as small as the dik-dik has to be made with material in detail, but would miss the whole shape.

Oh no, what torture to paint so many duiker stripes, thank you! Laughing Laughing

Thanks for showing them, Miguel! I'm going to enjoy them very much! Great work with painting, as usual! And pictures are really great, I love especially the one showing both the male impala and the dik dik, because you can easily see the size difference between them...

Greetings!

Thank you very much for your words javito !! sunny The truth is that I really enjoyed painting them and, as you say, I find the two figures together on the same scale very interesting to see how different they are.

Your paint work is so impressive in such small figures and in a material that you're not very used with. It is also impressive how these impalas in different poses work as a herd. Perfect for a diorama! Very Happy

Great job Miguel! I didn’t even know it were that much impalas sent to you Laughing .  There will be a moment you can’t see impalas anymore. Razz  But next to the newest juvenile impalas, there will be also some real young fawns coming. And also another spoil, I worked on an oxpecker, so I think there will be also one or two new adult impalas with oxpeckers. So maybe these aren’t the last impalas for you. Razz

Stijn, at the moment I almost only paint figures of impalas of your collection and with these new ones that you say maybe increase even more. Agggg! affraid affraid Laughing No problem, I love them, they seem fantastic to me and it is very nice to be able to make a large and very realistic herd !.

I present another work commissioned by a friend of one of the last figures of Stijn (miniNature). This is the group of buffalo attacked by two lionesses in 1:20 scale.

A set with a lot of movement and really spectacular. Having it in your hands makes it difficult to understand how a 3D printer can do this Shocked

I started by painting the buffalo by adding a special epoxy varnish for this, which softens the texture of 3D printing and filling the interior with resin to make it heavier because being hollow is quite fragile. The work of painting are several layers of color to get the textures and imitate the dusty and sometimes muddy environment in which this animal moves ...

Nice, great Miguel! Applause You did an awesome job so far! Maybe it’s strange for me for saying it, because it’s my own model, but you really lift it to another level. The details that are hidden in the plain color are turning out beautiful with the paint. I really can’t see myself doing this painting quality.
Looking forward to the progress! Very Happy

Thank you so much Fernando ! Very Happy

Well, here I introduce you to the little ones of the "impala" family. I hope I do not have many problems when painting them for their small size ...the little one on the right is going to look like a baby (1.25 scale)

And here are the parents with a few birds on top of them (the latest work from miniNature)

The bird section. The pair of ostriches standing and brooding ...

And the marabou, secretary bird and lapped-faced vulture ... very delicate, especially the legs and difficult to stay on foot.

Finally the set of carcass with scavengers. It seems incredible that you can print in 3D something as complicated and delicate as this. I think it's going to be the most complicated painting of all the figures. I hope it goes well ! Shocked

Great to see also the lions painted. Great work Miguel! Very Happy  Also looking forward to all the new works. A lot to do. Good luck with the carcass. Razz  I think maybe harder to paint than create the model. Laughing
I’m sorry to see the marabou isn’t stable. It looks like one of the legs is bend. Both feet should be flat on the surface. Maybe there is some more stability possible with a slight bend.
Enjoy the painting Smile

Thank you Stijn!, Yes I will be lucky to paint the carcass, I will need it! pale . I have thought to place these two figures of birds in small resin bases that do not distract from the figure itself but that stabilize it.

The two ostrich figures in scale 1:22 are painted. I have been asked to paint them as two females, although the one that is hatching is failing the eggs. I hope you soon become a mother !! Shocked Laughing

oh, sorry Stijn! I had forgotten that I made with a mold and drained in polyurethane resin the bases of these three figures to stabilize them, imitating earth.
