Ok So the new owner of this company is a former CEO of Lego. and From i can see with there Marketing this year, it is very apparent that he is applying what was done with Lego to Schleich by making two Catalogs for the year instead of one while not letting stores leak out information on the new items that would come out later in the year (unlike previous years were everything was showed off at the first of the year)

Now all of the 2016 Dinosaur figures have been labeled under the New Giants, while also being a part of the World Of History(now called simply Dinosaurs) line. But hears what i fear would happen in 2017 and indeed to whatever models come out that year in the year 2018.

Lego makes Sets every year, and they only last for a single year only before there retired. Sometimes the same lines will continue with new sets in the following year, but whatever came the year before will be collectors items. This makes me wonder if Schleich is going to do the same thing with these "First Giants models" which i think is only a Wave for the Dinosaurs line.


Im not sure if this would apply to Other Lines that there running, but dont be surprised to see a lot of 2016 models going to the retirement home after one year if my prediction and fears came true.

Anyone agree with me on this? Or am i just worrying too much?

I see an another danger. If the new owner is an american, than we perhaps will get more and more north american animals, and less european animals.
I've nothing against american animals, i also collect them. But i miss the common european forest animals like roe deers, wild boar, red deer hind, fallow deer, lynx and european wildcat.

There's 4 schleich retailers in my area, and I think you are right on most of these. Although, I think the Moose will stick around for a while longer. I do agree with you that Fruit Bat and Squirrel Monkey seem like they are being phased out. Puffin is an unknown, as I see it quite a bit. So the only two on your list i'd say could stick around are Moose and Puffin.

I think Kangaroo is more than gone at this point since a new one is on the way, and only a few are left in my area. Sea Lion seems out, the asian elephants are more than likely done since they were just replaced. Wild Rabbit, the Chimpanzee with Baby is also going away and is cleared out in my area. I also noticed Toys R Us discounting Gorilla with Baby, Eagle Owl, the Mandrill with Baby, so i'm not sure if those will go away, but they could. One figure i've never seen in stores was Baby Alligator and Sawfish.

Emperor Penguin with Chick is another one I think is gone. I only see this on occasion anymore.The other one i'd like to see retired and replaced is the Bald Eagle.

King Cobra and the Boa Constrictors are another two I rarely see. Either of those two wouldn't surprise me if they retired early.

I have a lot to comment but for now I will only notice that zebra stallion is being retired and also the Fjord stallion. It may mean that the Fjord stallion mold will be remastered to make the new zebra stallion, I guess.

I think that is the beginning of the end of the old Zebra and fjordies.
Perhaps in the second a part of 2017 also some new items will be come.

Looks like I have 3 to get - phew - not too bad this year :-) I'm surprised the Cave is being discontinued - I would've thought that cost a lot of investment to design, mould and make and it can work with so many different scenarios.

This year I have no horses to get before they retire... I have them all

I hope so, it would be great to have a new zebra stallion but in a more active pose as Schleich is doing with some horses. If they do it, I hope it is as good as these zebras being retired once I like them.

What about the lippizaner mare and foal? Surely these will retire when new molds come out?
