Since we have had such success with the K&M Butterflies Tube, I thought I would post their Butterflies Mini Polybag set.

There are 12 figures, all very small, measuring on average 20-30 mm wingspans. Because of their size, the detail is even simpler than that of the tube figures, and as such their identifications may be more of a challenge.

At the time of this initial post, I have names on 7 of the 12 figures. I am putting them all in one image, since they are tiny and don't feel like expending the time to individually photograph 12 tiny insects :).

1. paper kite, Idea leuconoe. This ID is based on their tube figure, and similar Safari LTD figures, of the same species.
2. Menelaus morpho, Morpho menelaus.
3. Diana morpho, Morpho diana. [this is probably a simplified M. cyrpis, which has been made a couple times, but the paint job makes it look more like diana.]
4. black swallowtail, Papilio polyxenes, although this could probably represent any predominately black swallowtail.
5. European peacock, Aglais io. Pretty straight-forward, also in their tube set.
6. genoveva azure, Ogyris genoveva. ID based on several figures that followed the original by Club Earth.
7. eastern swallowtail, Papilio glaucus, although again this could probably represent any number of swallowtails.
8. unknown Papilio.
9. unknown. (Apatura iris?--looks like the Toy Major one)
10. unknown.
11. unknown.
12. unknown.

I hope at a certain point to be able of helping you identifying some butterflies. My poor perception of colors is not really easy in this task. These Minis were likely released before than butterflies of the Nature tubes and these use to be very generic actually. However, K&M had released standard sized butterflies before those we know from Nature tubes. Very Happy

So I was looking at online searched of this bag set and apparently number 12 in my pic above is not part of the main set of 12. Instead, there is a Hebomoia glaucippe formosana (number 3 in the pic below)...I thought I had forgotten one...

So where did number 12 come from? Did my set have 13, or did it come from another set? I wish sometimes I would have kept my bin sets organized by set rather than taxonomically haha

I think Butterfly number 12 is the exact same thing as Toy Major green Butterfly: A BUTTERFLY PAINTED AS A MOTH, a LunaMoth. If yoy read my comments in Toy Major Butterflies, you will see that despite my endless researches, I could not find a single butterfly with ocellated green wings. All the green butterflies on Wikipedia had more or less large black areas on their wings, and no one had ocellates. So, I concluded it was something else: in this case, a moth. A moth painted over a buttwrfly model. Just like the AAA Snowy Owl painted over a Horn Owl model. Or that Bottlenose Dolphin paintedas an Orca Whale in that dollar store.

Aren't they? And their small size gives them a cute, emotionnally-attaching looks. Surprised
