COLLECTA 2018: WILD LIFE - African Civet (88824)

I really hope many of you are excited to see this animal finally coming to life as a model! It is for me definitely ONE of the highlights of CollectA's 2018 collection...a couple of more surprises to come soon but my lips are sealed...!  

There are a number of small predatory animals that I would like CollectA to make for collector's and children alike....my first choice is another species which I have been trying to 'lobby' for the last four years but it never makes the list.  I hope that 2019 will prove fruitful.  This civet was a choice that I put forward just last year which was considered and accepted which I am delighted with.  It is another animal I frequently see on wish lists on this forum.  So who says CollectA does not listen to us?  Of course they do and the result is this wonderful creature!

During the design it was hard to get the head shape right.  Remember, sculptors become use to producing one type of animal and so they are really pushed when asked to make such unusual species.  During design the head just was not right and it was re sculpted many times.  In the end this was achieved which I personally am happy with.  Anyway, finally we have an African civet made by one of the 'Big 6' major brands!  This is the prototype photo so remember that the final plastic model may differ during mass production slightly. The African Civet is the largest representative of the African Viverridae. The black bands surrounding its eyes closely resemble those of the raccoon and another distinguishing feature is its erectile dorsal crest which at the CollectA model is indicated in a more subtle way

Absolutely stunning. Every year CollectA releases animals that make me wish I collected taxa other than arthropods - LOL. This one would be a must-have!

Yay, the best time of the year has started!
That isn't an animal that would be aw one of the first of my wishlist for new figures, but it looks so nice, and definitley need to be in my collection soon! Great job CollectA!

Wow, I was just going to bed and now I am not sure I will sleep with such excitment! I am so really glad that these animals are seeing the light with the quality expected from a major brand. We lived for such a long time almost exclusively with the Play Visions. ... and I could have some remarks about the figure but it looks really excellent and very promising. I am so crazy to get it. These little predators need defintely to be more common in toy shape.

Oh, yes!!!
Indeed, on the market there are too few small predatory animal figurines representing Africa (as well as any other continent except Europe). Who will hide in the bushes or on the trees in African dioramas? Don't tell me about leopards - there shouldn't be more than one leopard in one diorama or shelf display :)
