COLLECTA 2018: DINOSAURS - Sciurumimus (88811)

I've got this good news from Collecta :

"The Sciurumimus is based on a very juvenile fossil found in Bavaria in 2011. It is called 'squirrel mimic' on account of its feathered tail that must have resembled the fur of a squirrel. It is not known how large the adult would have grown to. The CollectA replica is based on that single specimen from Bavaria."

Absolutly a dinosaur for my work, because icollect for the children european, and especially german, dinosaur figurines :)

I definitely prefer bases for models that fall over or have to support themselves on their tails

Very nice Sciurumimus!  This is actually one of my favorite species.  If it's still considered a Megalosaur (and I'm cot currently sure that it is), then it's a species of significant scientific importance.  It could potentially mean that other Megalosaurs such as Spinosaurus and Baryonyx were feathered.

Unfortunately, I have experienced a recent issue with CollectA figures.  I would find out later that many of the models that I either admired or already purchased from them appear to be directly taken from the artwork of others.  Here are some examples.

These are two different species, but you can still see a strong resemblance.

Even the Sciurumimus appears to be close to this work in terms of design and pose [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] .  While I understand some leeway is needed for coincidences of similar appearances, much of the other Sciurumimus artwork online does look wholly original.

I know this is a difficult subject and I don't consider the act inherently malicious, but doing this too often can put companies at serious risk.  It can destroy their good reputations, decrease sales, and if they're too similar it can be considered illegal.  Unless CollectA shows signs of changing, I don't think I can support them for the foreseeable future (However, I will not judge others for buying them as this is my own personal choice).  It's a shame because when they're original, they do fantastic work.
