PostSubject: Giant Deep-sea Isopod [Ikimon - Nature Techni Colour)   Thu Aug 09, 2018 12:16 pm

Walkaround of the giant deep-sea isopod, Bathynomus giganteus Milne-Edwards, 1879 by Ikimon - Nature Techni Colour, re-released for 2018. So a little background. As some of you know, Ikimon either bought out or acquired the Nature Techni Colour series from Kitan Club (I do not know the complete history of the name change). However, back in 2014 Kitan Club released this figure for roughly $100 USD. At the time I passed on it, because it is big and expensive and I had other good representatives of this species. However I slowly grew to regret my decision and before you knew it, the figure was upwards of $300 USD on eBay!!! Recently however I was saved as Ikimon decided to re-release it around its original price (mine was $79 USD not including shipping, etc.).

The figure was reviewed on the ATF by brontodocus (http://animaltoyforum.com/index.php?topic=1383.new#new). For those of you who don't know brontodocus, he is a zoologist in Germany and is a specialist on this group of isopods. His review of this figure is nothing short of spectacular and if he has high regards for it, you know it is nice.

The figure is BIG. It is roughly 29 cm, which makes it 1:1 (although living specimens can get even bigger!). It is made of a hollow vinyl but it is still fairly rigid and stiff. So luckily it's not too heavy. If you are interested in it, get it soon, before the price gets jacked up again!
