African items for the 1:12 zoo diorama Empty
PostSubject: African items for the 1:12 zoo diorama   African items for the 1:12 zoo diorama EmptyThu May 20, 2010 3:11 am

As some of you know, some time back i had to stop the construction of the heart of the zoo, since i came across some problems with a supplier of African 1:12 scale architectural components for the buildings. I'm now back on track, and soon the final construction of the heart of the zoo will begin. I have a new supplier that is getting me old 1:12 antiques and custom order items of African design for the buildings that form the core of the entrance and heart of the diorama.

I wanted to share some pics of some of the first items that have made their way here, with many more to come, the Asian restaurant is almost finished, so i can now consentrate on the African Theme area, that will include 7 different buildings.

The tusk seat is real ivory but it is and old piece so no animal was harmed to build it, the doors are fully operational, and were a custom piece of an real life original.[img][You must be registered and logged in to see this image.][/img]

Great stuff Danny, I love the zebra shield and tiger chair, but my favorite is the elephant tusk chair. I can't wait to see the whole thing when it is put together so you can see how the decorations are going to highlight the area. Keep up the good work on the pieces.

Wow, fantastic art and craft items, Danny. I especially like the one in image six - it reminds me of the pivotal cabinet displayed in the late-60's film titled "The Magus." Maybe there is statuette of a bodhisattva inside?!

Can't wait to see your "Asian restaurant" with, presumably a mini-wok and mini-wok station... :)

Fantastic stuff again Danny!
You really think about the details for everything, which i admire very much in you!
This zoo will be famous when it is ready, and all animal- and zoo-lovers will know it in time, including all the people in the world, that work in zoo's... Very Happy

Thank you guys, KiKi, i'm not working out of my computer right now, but when i get to it i will find the file and post a bigger picture, maybe i can even do better than that, i have been planing on taking some items out of storage including some animals, so hopefully i can get to the kudus.

Willy the fun is really in the details, but it is also what holds me back from completing the zoo in a reasonable timeframe, there is allways so much to add, every little item that goes with a building, every tile in a pathway, everything from a stand of newspapers to the many lights, lamps and connections in the layout, so many things, if you remember the site plan i posted in the LG, it has changed 100%, now i'm focusing in a few key items, the entrance, the African theme area, and the Asian restaurant and Panda exhibit, this will be the core of the zoo, and hopefully finish sometime this year or early 2011, once that is done, little by little other buidings and additions will be merged into the diorama. For some time now i have been consentrating in getting as many items as i can instead of working on the diorama.

I'm trying to use my contacts in China to get as many things as i will need later on as possible, i just received an order of 300 trash can bins, i will have no use for so many right now, but i keep them for the future, and i do not have to worry about that later on.

Sorry Danny that i answered this so late, but i wasn't in this part of the forum for some time, time is so limited these days, since i have a full job(in 2 shifts) again... Laughing

I am sure everything you do on your zoo will be fabulous and great to look at! cheers
As always, i can't wait to see more!
When it is ready finally, it will be like going to a real zoo, and have the idea that you were really there!
And that is what you wanted i think ,same as the real thing, just somewhat smaller... king
