The 2021 Schleich vulture 14847

Being my first ever walkaround, ever, I thought I would start with a new Schleich, specifically their vulture.

We currently only have ten Griffon vultures present on the TAI, with three being Schleich which is really rather surprising as these are a very common species, however as we know birds weirdly do not seem to sell as well as mammals

In my humble opinion Schleich's new vulture is a very nice rendition indeed even if its feet are exceedingly large. This figure was placed in the Savannah/ desert selection of their catalogue which is understandable. Shall I get onto the photos? yes, I think I should

I am the first posting in your first walk around.
I hope it is just the first of many. You're showing perfectly the model and I agree with you. It is a very nice griffon but obviously these feet are too large and they don't need them to hunt. It is the only factor that does not contribute to the realism of the model, almost all the rest is very pleasant. However, it saves us from a base what I know is good for many collectors.
Oh, if Schleich wanted it for Savanah, they should have chosen a different species and I believe the mould didn't need any special changes.

And I agree with everything Roger said about it.
One thing I really don`t like on Schleich`s style of sculpting and this is the way they sculpt the pupil of the eyes on many of their models... with a hole...
But they still doing it..
This one has it too.
For me is the same, when I see a tiger model, with sculpted lines for stips ..
But this is not a big deal and the model is still nice :)

I miss the more precise paintwork of the good old Schleich-days, but I suppose it is a question of costs

It's a lovely model aside from the big feet- but I guess this is a bonus if it can then stand upright without a base, as Roger says!
I love how Schleich have used different shades of brown in the paint, it looks more realistic like this!
