Hi Everybody

Hi everybody,

My name's Michael, but I go by "Loon" on most sites I use. I've been collecting animal figures, more specifically dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals, for the past 5 years now. Relatively recently, I decided to branch out into the world of modern animal figures, and I have to say, I really enjoy it. Maybe more than dinosaur collecting? I don't know... But still, I decided it would be appropriate to finally join this forum, as I wanted to be part of a community that wasn't exclusively dinosaur based.

This is my current collection display. My sister's coming home from Texas tomorrow, so I wanted to get it cleaned up a bit. So, there won't be a better time to photograph it for some time. It's far from where'd I'd like it to be, though. I still have a few figures to get on display (including my beloved whales), but I think it's pretty alright as is. Sorry for the somewhat blinding LEDs (they look better in person), and the general messiness of my room.

Anyway, I look forward to talking to everyone. This seems like a really great community, and I can't wait to check out everyone's figures. When it comes to extant animal replicas, it seems I'm learning something new everyday.

Wow oh wow, I can already see so many great items in that one photo. From the JP3 Spino, Southlands Diprotodon, and even the brand new Safari maned wolf! I can't wait to to see more.

Perhaps someday whan you have time, you will show us some pictures more close up ?
Never mind at bit of dust, we all most of us know that problem

And you have light inside the shelves !!!! That is surely a major advantage
In the evening, I need a head lamp to find the models in some of my bookcases

Welcome on STS from a dog lover and dog collector! I'm so glad you decided to join, and I'm sure your collection is amazing- I think I'll have to wait until later when the Wifi is better to see it though!
It is such a fun hobby, and even after a few months here I would 100% say that STS is one of the best places on the internet!

Great collection and beautiful display too. The LEDs are very good. Did you buy the shelves like that or did you install the LEDs?

I just want to thank everyone for the kind words. It's quite refreshing to post in such a positive place! I really look forward to posting here more often.

I would love to post some close up shots at some point. I would do so now, but I have to set a few more things up before I do.

Yeah, LEDs are a life saver sometimes. My room has horrible lighting naturally, so at least I can see my figures with the lights. Also, the shelves did not come with the LEDs. I wish they did, as the light strips I use are very fickle, and tend to get loose in places.

Ha, potentially, my room tends to be relatively dark, even during the day, so I can see that.

No, I'm unfortunately not that talented. It's actually two pictures I got off google edited together, with an "oil painting" filter over it. It definitely helps cover up my lackluster photo editing skills.
