I already have some of them too, and the yak is the king under the models of this species, which is the same for many other species too!

Are these models rare ? My friend has two zebras who were in a very sorry state so she painted them to look like Quaggas.

Yes, some of these figurines are very rare, specially in a good condition Rio.
They date back to the 1920's up to the early 1960's.
The material is called composition in English ,and made of a mix of glue and sawdust, with a metall-frame inside to support the model.
the feeling is like a kind of clay or resin or so.
They weigh quit much sometimes...

She has just shown me 2 of her Oryx and they look to be in amazing condition !

When they are the Lineol oryx, then she has something special there!

I believe they are. She bought them in a shop with a group of other models for just a few £ a few years a go. Such a find

Were they this type oryx?
This is Lineol, and quit rare in a good condition, so expensive too!

That's the one :) She has two of them and from her picture, they seem to be in good condition.

I'm not sure what other Lineol animals she has but I do know that she has a Sable Antelope and a Giraffe that was missing a head so she made it one. I couldn't even tell from the picture ! The paint work is fantastic.

I have sent her the link for this forum so maybe she will join one day and she can share her models with us

Ok then Rhianna, then she is a lucky person, because this model is hard to find in a good condition, and she has two!
And the same for the saber-antelope, that is a very beautifull and quit rare model too in a perfect condition.
Most of these models have some cracks over the time, but if they are not too bad, it doesn't matter too much.

The giraffe could be this one, which Christophe and i own too.

All of these models are Lineol, and the sculpts are fantastic, specially when you think about the time they were made in.
for me and Christophe, the are the kings under the sculpts, mostly much better then the modern ones...
There are many more models, and they are the proud of my collection!

I think that's the Giraffe she has. Although it now has it's head reaching up with it's tongue out.

I'm not sure about the rest, I have just seen a taste of her collection but I think she has two Zebras too.

The man who sculpted these lines was a real artist, and he probably only knew the animals from pictures or even drawings...

Haha, that is what most of the collectors say, they want those Lineols.
But you have to be ready to pay 40 euro's and much more for them, specially in good condition, if you want them.

!checked some on Ebay Deutschland,and my eyes wouldn't stop starring into the abyss!

This is another great place to hunt for them, and the prices are often shown before.
It is in German, but most of the sellers do speak some English i think.
Go to "marktplatz" and then to the right side, you can search for categories.

I was just looking at that site yesterday morning, they have some amazing stuff. I was looking at the Elastolin/Hausser and I love the Okapi! They are such beautiful models too.
