ebay problems for international buyers?

I have at the moment to buy anything (not included ebay.com) from ebay, especially ebay.fr.

Are these (tax) problems only in Germany?

I know Yahoo are the same for european buyers, what is the matter?

My only problem with e-Bay is the ridiculous shipping fees!

I was recently surprised with several taxes and I ended paying more 5 than I expected but it was my fault since I forgot I was acquiring something from UK. I honestly still don't understand all those taxes but I rarely buy anything from EBAY so I am quite unexperient. Though, I am sure it must be related with Brexit.
From France to Germany I really cannot understand. Is it the VAT?

I've just done a test search on UK Ebay and swapped to the 'Continental Europe' option instead of UK only, and it's showing up several items located in Germany as available for me to buy and have shipped, no problem, even to me here both overseas and outside the EU.
So from outside looking in, international Ebay seems to have no issues with German sellers trading with other countries, could it be some awkward new import laws/taxes only affecting buyers there?

Was it HST? GST or PST? if so you should be able to claim that back.
