Pictures of PAPO discontinued models

As Alejandro wrote, we have been a little lazy lately, with some brilliant exceptions, of course  

So please allow me to show you some of my retired papos that I have got during the last months.
I have been roaming Ebay in Gremany, England, France and "dot-Com" to see the price level of retired, used Papo animals. But there are almost never used Papos  on auktions, - except knights  

It seems that compared to Papo it is sheer, easy chocolate to find retired Schleich  
So I thought that I might as well try to get some while they are still for sale as ordinary, new ones.

One exception was the wolf. I got him used from UK :

he is much lighter than the one in the catalogue I have. Is that how he looks, i wonder. My son says he looks like he has been dryed in a tumbler

The brown bears are really special, I think

The old croc is very much like other models, the new one looks much nicer on pictures.
The guy in the canoo is a nice figuere. I so much hope to be able to find his wife some day.

I was very, very happy to find the donkeys, of course

The giraffes are quite wobbly - I leve them in the plastic-support, because the legs were bent wrong when I got them.

I really, really love the old rhino and the baby. They are almost little pieces of art, I think, even if he new rhino may be more accurate

These two have been here for some time. They were some of the first Papos I got.

So, slowly, slowly it begins to look like a collection, I think  
I have already shown y´all the bison, polar bears and the dear deer with the funny antlers

Fantastic Susanne! Your Papo collection is growing a lot! Some great figures and fantastic pictures!
This camel is the number 1 of the brand, an important collectible! I'm sure soon or later the Papo retired will be as atractive as the Schleich! I hope seeing your Papo collection grow and grow and I'm sure you will not collect horses!

Yes, I must admit that I have come to really, realy love the Papo-models and hope my collection will grow a lot

I think the one with the funny ears is just so cute

They are not that rare - yet - only future will show what happens.
Perhaps they will become sought after collector`s figueres like Roger says. I think so too, because they are SO charming !

TGF Toys has LOTS of Papo donkeys, but I have not been able to buy any thanks to Jolly Ollie and his vet bill. But maybe after summertime they will still have them! I love the floppy eared one and also the one with his neck kind of stretched out. :)

I think so because the general quality of the brand is growing, even and even more growing on collectors world and when we start loving a brand and we have a nice amount of figures we always have the temptation of see our favourite series complete! Remember that Papo is only in its 8th year of making animals, probably 8 years after the first Schleich animal figure the crazyness for the brand was not also very high! Now I see collectors searching figures without any interest as replicas but very important to complete series! If a brand is known enough and able to reach some prestige in the market soon or later it will turn in a collector's iten!

You can tell by most of these earlier models(Which aren't great to what they make now) that Papo has definitely improved!

Late last night I was writing a loooong ansver to you two, Roger and Balti, about what I think makes a brand succeed. However writing late at night, it was probably a lot of rubbish, so I erased it . Perhaps a subject for "Whatever you want

As you can see pretty inferior compared to the "newer" Papo hippo.

It certainly is very primitive

Perhaps that is why it could become a rare collector`s item. I suppose nobody bought it

If I find two, I will let you know, I hope you will do the same

Of course!!! I never had it in my hands but the picture shows a really poor figure! But a very nice addition to someone that collects or loves Papo!

I have only seen one pic of the hippo, more of a three quarter turn
pic, so it's nice to see a the whole side view.
It's not that bad of a figure, but as I said, can't even compare it to the newer Papo hippo, for sure!

The only one I saw in a shop had the same problem and our friend from Girafamania reported the same problem with his old Papo giraffe, maybe it explains why many Papo figures have pyramidal legs as Robert says!

I think it only come up for two years and be replace by the latest hippo.
