SIMEX BIRDS

Here is a topic dedicated to SIMEX birds...

I present 19 figures, in principle, of the Simex brand. Let's see if together we can give a little more light to this series...

Objective data:

- All figures are made of the same material (light plastic, some more flexible than others), but not all seem to come from the same sculptor. Some have realistic details, others instead look like plastic replicas of some classic Chinese crystal figures (very popular between the 70's and 90's).

- Almost all are marked with "Made in Hong Kong" or "Hong Kong". Some are also marked with a number (as if it were the model number within the series).

- They all seem to be inspired by existing birds but it is difficult to know the exact species of all of them. Bets and suggestions are welcome here...

I have aslo a few figures. And i miss a few.

I think Simex is only a seller, but i am not sure. It is hard to find, it looks that they was also sold in surprise bag (Wundertüten)

Another question would be how many figures does the complete collection consist of...

I can see you dont have the budgie. If you need that figure, let me know it.

I like the pheasant best but there are several lovely figures here.

I have some of these birds as well as a few not shown here. I can dig them out and get photos of them. Some I definitely do not have though and would love to find sometime!

It looks like Simex had a multitude of species! It's also a plus that they were made in different colors and finishes!
I'm afraid not, but I wish there was a pelican, an ibis, an anhinga and a cormorant among what is not yet known....

There's a Simex brand in Hong Kong which produced licensed figures. Though, some references of Simex are from Germany. So weird this series is so big and interesting and we can't find any information about it.
