PostSubject: Found these at an antique store: BANDAÏ and AUBURN   Fri Jul 08, 2011 6:00 am

While out with a couple of friends I saw what I thought was some elephant ivory in an antique store so we went in. Turns out that the ivory was just bone so I didn't buy it but while there I did see some old figures marked 1950 plastic animals. There were 10 total, 9 from Marx or if not a very similar brand and the other an unknown and tiny (under a half inch) baby deer.

Here are the photos, the first is the deer with the Bandai chital family that I have. For those of you who have the Bandai figures you know that the biggest chital is around an inch tall at the shoulder so this will give you an idea of how small the fawn is. There are no marks to tell me what brand it is, my guess is it was made for a model railroad set up or a Christmas display for the holidays.

And here are the others, there are actually 2 more not in the photo because I am showing them to someone else but there is another doe and a larger grizzly bear that is sitting up and has a fish in it's paws and mouth. I'll get a photo of the other 2 as soon as I get them back. These 9 figures are going to be up for a trade so if anyone is interested look on the trade/sale forum.

Those are Auburn Rubber co. animals, made from the mid 1940's to the mid 1950's. Very Happy

Thank you for sharing Phil,

i see (i think) that i have the Bandai Axis Deers (but also not solid).

And i think, Auburn looks better than Marx. I find and become next time 4 Auburn animals for my collection - a wild ass, a barbary sheep and cottontail rabbits. And i am happy, because i dont know a other brand with this animals.

Yes, i know the starlux barbary sheep, because it is in my collection.

But only old brands. And the price for the auburn barbary sheep was good. And the auburn is the best for me- but need a paint. But not by myself.

Maybe this is a Barbary sheep to, it is an old Hong Kong model, from which i never saw another model from another brand.
It was always in wildlife sets, not in farmsets...
