Thank you Phil, they were only put there for the photo, but I'm going to have shelves built for them all soon. They are all packed away in boxes at the moment.

Been there, done that, I hate to live with everything boxed up, so I feel your pain, I collect books, I have over 1000 titles in 8 different languages, and I can't stand the fact that I have less then 100 on a shelf in my room. The books I collect are mostly on fish and reptiles, called dichotomas keyes, that are identification guides on a particular region or family group. For instance one of the titles I have is Hawiaan Inshore Reef Fishes. The book is a series of yes or no questions, where you look at the fish and answer the question asked, if yes go to the next question, if no go to question 100 (or whatever) until there are no more choices, at that point you have the identification and there is then an abstract with photos or line drawing of the fish in question and sometimes some biological info, sometimes not, depending on the author and quality of the book. I use them for my collecting business as knowing what you are collecting is very important for the export of the animals when the time comes.

By the way, that is all I collect, animal figures, books, fish, reptiles, and sometimes some mammals, but I figure that is enough!!!

Yes, I HATE having my models packed away, and it's messy having loads of boxes as well. Sometimes I get them out and look at them, but it's such a palaver packing them away again! I'm really looking forward to having shelves, it will be so great.

Nice collection!

Good pictures of the horses. I never managed to take good picturs that way.

It is a pitty to have the models packed away, but at least they stay in good shape that way.

Great pictures. I love horses, they have to be one of the most beautiful animals. You have an amazing collection. I too have a lot of mine boxed up, but that is only for a matter of time.

Thanks... That is true, that they stay in good condition. Welcome here Zwartvoet, good to have you with us!

Thanks Amy, I bet you're really looking forward to your building, for your models, being finished. Must be exciting.

I definately am looking forward to it. It is just a matter of time. Our whole family has been sick for a little over a month, but we are doing so much better now. I hope to get started back up on it soon. The bad part is I can see it finished in my head and want it to actually be done.

Great collection!
The new models look fantastic, I'm still waiting for the shops to stock them. It's a long time to wait, but its worth it!

I understand your reluctance to store them in boxes instead of on open display. Personally, I have all mine in plastic bags in locking storage bins, as there is no space available here for display. However, it is quite convenient for me, as I am finally starting to create a comprehensive database with all pertinent model information, and the use of containers allows me to locate any particular model very quickly. In addition, I hope to preserve them in better condition, and for a longer duration this way. And most important, I don't have to worry about dusting the models and display areas.

I guess that is what one must do if one is an allergic former legal records manager... Rolling Eyes

Yes, that is another way of keeping them too, but i guess, you would like to have them on display, so you can enjoy them more.
But it must be possible of course, and the dusting is another story of course.

I like to have my things ordened very much too.
I hate when i can't find something in my own house.
I tried to learn this system to other people like my girlfriend and her children too, but that is a hard task if you are not same minded in those things, haha. Shocked Rolling Eyes

I have displayed all my schleich horses, i have ordened them all in a list (exell) for future buying.

I will have to move out from my parents in a year or 4 maximum, i am already afraid for my collection which moves out to.

dusting is a problem but i do not want my horses in a box.

a friend of mine had her horses in a basket for a while, without wrapping, i was simply shoked.

I keep all my horses on a shelf, I like having them displayed. So far I haven't had a problem with dust, I rearange my Schleich so often it doesn't have a chance to settle! I can never deside how to organise them

In my Schleich collection before, there was only one horse missing..
I had them in a vitrine, only for them, and it was very crowded i can tell you.
For now, i have them boxed up too, but they are not so many as before.
The same for my Papo, Bullyland and Safari horses, which will be on display with the Schleichs in the future.
I will need a vitrine for them only i guess..., and there are already 5 in my living-room, and a big one in a spare-bedroom, and even two little ones in the toilet, haha.

Well, I do have all my wildlife models displayed and a few of my horses, but they don't travel round the house, Very Happy they stay in my room. The ones that are packed away are all carefully wrapped, I have a few standing in the Schleich barn (for I don't take it to peices) only because I'm running out of space!
I'm not too bothered about the dust, I will be too thrilled to get the shelves!

My collection is displayed in a shelf (do you say shelf?), I tried to package them because of the space but finally I couldn´t xD

Sorry the pictures are old, I posted them before I was properly registered on the site where I upload my pictures. You can see my entire Schleich collection here though... [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
